I love the sun and warmth, and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I hate being cold... its the worst feeling in the world
I don't know, it's a toss-up. I've been outside when it was below 0, and I've been out in a 140 F trailer with no air movement at all, stripped down as close to naked as I could get, sweating gallons, and still roasting like a turkey in an oven.Originally Posted by maggieb

Both extremes suck. The worst part about the latter is when your shorts are soaked wringing wet with sweat, and then you have to ride in a truck for another 4-5 hours to get to the next drop. That chafes something terrible. I've had what amounts to diaper rash so bad that I could barely walk for days.
It's snowing outside now, and that's not very amusing either. Cold is a different kind of terrible, but at least you can lessen the effects by putting on my clothing, getting out of the wind, building a fire, moving around to generate body heat... There's nothing you can do about hot, except try to get wet, and get some air blowing over you. Sweat takes care of the wet, and moving with the windows down takes care of the air, but what do you do in traffic when you can't get any air moving? You swelter.
I'll take A/C and/or heat over either extreme, or a nice 60-80 degree day. Maybe even down to 50, but nowhere above 80 please.
Thanks for sending your snow down here. I appreciate it. While I just said I'd rather be cold than hot, I didn't mean I wanted to be THIS cold.

No kidding ^^^^^
It's snowing down here in Texas right now. I'd alot rather load a house up in the cold than in the hot, humid summer. The trailer keeps the wind off of you, and moving around I stay comfortable in shorts and a sweatshirt.

I agree with what you just said too, except I never got so far as to wear shorts. I'd layer up, and when I got in full lump mode, I'd be stripped down to house clothes even though it was crazy cold outside. The trick is not to let yourself get sweaty, so while you might need heavy clothes when you first get out of the truck, if you keep them on when you're working hard, you'll get soaked, and freeze half to death as soon as you stop moving again. Not cool.Originally Posted by Teal 95 KW

I never realized how much difference a trailer did make until I tried pouring concrete in the dead of winter. It makes a HUGE difference having that to cut the wind. I wore my regular winter trucking gear that I had been using for years, and it was not remotely any kind of enough clothing to withstand the job of pouring concrete into a pumper for 45 minutes. 45 minutes in the cutting wind, and the only exercise you get is moving the drum control a fraction of an inch every few minutes. That was miserable wearing my normal gear.

Good gracious woman, you can't say things like that around truck drivers!!! Half this board will be dreaming about you for a month, and the other half are either old or gay.
