In a perfect World ...

...the driver would be dispatched on a load....

Then once loaded at the shipper he or she could review their log books

and advise dispatch on a realistic delivery window.

Think about it... its that simple.

You are obviously smoking better stuff than I can find.

In a perfect world there would be no log books. People would use common sense to stop and rest when they are tired.

You would think! :roll3:

During my short stint as a solo driver for an outlaw O/O, we got MOST of our loads from C.H. Robinson. I know.... that sucks!

But, they (Robinson) would REQUIRE that I call in to tell them when I was loaded and on the road. If there was a delay, they would DELAY my delivery time. So, what IS the problem here? If I TOLD them that I couldn't make the scheduled time, they would reschedule it. And usually NOT for a day later!

I KNOW... and have admitted.... that I have only been driving for about 4 years, but I just don't understand how SO MANY of you have SO MUCH of a problem with this. Dispatchers, and even brokers, are trained to set schedules based on miles, mph, HOS, etc. They can't get it wrong EVERY TIME!

I guess I live in a perfect world..... If I can't make it based on my hours and the time allowed, I make a call and its taken care of. Seriously, that's how it works, and I log using the clock....and keep my logs current at each change of status. Its been like that since I came here almost three years ago....and I like it. I don't worry about it at all.....:smokin:

Yes, I might lose the load to another driver, but another one will come up, or I will relay the load, or exchange with another driver.....but I keep it legal.
