House leader says releasing of a 'small portion' of the 700 million barrels of oil in the nation's Strategic Petroleum Reserve won't risk national security.
Republicans argue that the way to lower gasoline prices is to increase drilling in the United States. :roll:

Home for the weekend. Just watched the news and they said ATL fuel situation wont improve for another 7 days. Only saw 2 stations with gas, how do I know because they were the ones with lines down the street

Diesel is $3.80 a gallon in NJ. Gasoline about $3.40. No lines, all stations open.

Had no problems getting fuel, did choose the I-20 at the I-10/20 split. some fuel nozzles were jacketed in Big Spring. Took US-49 in Jackson, no problem fueling in Richland. Ran 49 to 98 in Hattiesburg, took MS-57 to I-10 on the Gulf and home. BOL

I was told there was something on the news station that they were UNABLE TO UNLOAD the oil because of KYLE. With a hurricane out in the Atlantic, they waves were too high and they were not unloading because of the danger of a spill. Kyle is up north now, and should be no problems anymore. But, it tells you how close we are to our supply. No stockpile. Any disruption in the supply of crude, and we won't have any fuel.

They are drawing down the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). The tax payers bought the (SPR) supply at the highest price for crude, and now the price is low for crude we are selling it at a low low low price.

Indy locals are hauling gas and diesel loads to the Carolinas, Atlanta and Knoxville (additional places also I'm sure). They are carrying an HOS exemption letter on-board.

We have been having gasoline shortages here since Ike. As far east as Hickory. Some have been driving into SC to gas up, only to burn about half of it on the way back (depending on type of vehicle). People here have been known to follow tankers to wherever they're going in hopes of scoring gas! Diesel fuel hasn't been as big of a problem through much of this, although when some places run out of diesel it's a day or two before they get more.

I think this is probably somebody's way of trying to ween us off the evil gasoline! Too bad it won't work; this area is still mostly rural and the light rail project is at least a thousand years away!

Oh well, maybe it will do me well to dust off the old bike and ride it the 14 miles one way to work...

The lesson I take out of it is... don't let your tanks get too low ;)

Many a time I've fumed it to get to the place I wanted to buy fuel at- be it for IFTA reasons, lower prices or to get to a truck stop I like. It's cheaper to buy fuel somewhere you don't want to buy it than it is to either run out or get stuck somewhere where there isn't any.
