Schneider National Bulk or Dedicated?

Hello I will be attending schneider's training program on September 27th I have been offered a position in their dedicated wal mart division in wintersville ohio, but i am also interested in their bulk division i would just have to get my tanker and hazmat endorsement and would receive additional training. I have no experience driving class a and have heard some bad things about this dedicated account and advice would definitely be welcomed. Thanks! :)

I believe they want drivers to live within 35 miles of the dc for the wintersville account, at least thats what was told to me. On the pumpkin drivers board they all complained about the pay and the treatment recieved on the account. I'm not going to dispute their claims on it but the drivers who complained about the account never had backed up their claims with any real proof of mistreatment. I'm considering moving to wintersville to go on to the account myself but am viewing other options as well.

I would do bulk...more miles and odds are you probably won't sit as much.. and you get an assigned truck!! down side is you be out for at least two weeks.. with the wal-mart account i've been told you slip seat for the first few months then get assigned a truck.. start out in the low 30's and with 2000 miles a week and with stop pay.. you'll gross about 700 a week before taxes.. you home two days a week during the week and drive during the night and weekends!! if you can survive off of 650-750 a week go for it.. if not run the road and be a tanker yanker!!

Have you posed your question at pumpkindriver.com? Why don't you ask the guys that do it? BOL

No i haven't posted on pumpkin driver, they won't let you register with a free email account, but that is where i saw most of the stuff they said about the dedicated. You are right hawkjr about the slip seating and pay at least according to the recruiter. She didn't metion anything to me about living within 35 miles of the dc, but i did tell her i was interested in the bulk division as well and she told me to go and get my hazmat and tanker endorsement (i already have my class a no experience though) and to let her know what i wanted to do as i am to call her on aug 27th to set up my dot physical and drug screen and she said to keep the receipt for the fingerprinting and background check and bring it to green bay with me and i would be reimbursed for it. I am really leaning towards bulk as of right now, i've got a lot of time to think about it though.

My experience is in dry bulk, but I think I would rather do that than pull a van. Also made 60k my first full year doing bulk. Much better than what most new OTR folks do money wise.

hoot_53-ask Orangeboy to allow you to register with pumpkin driver on your free email. He allow me access with my free email when I requested it. You have to be on line at the same time he is on line. He will give you a "window" of time to register.

And why in the hell would you feel that you have the right to dispute their claims to begin with? Do you work there? Or are we blurring reality here? (again)

I'm sure that they appreciate that you are considering bringing all of your experience and education to them. Be sure to inform Schneider that you lasted less than two months with Swift as a newbie. That will be a strong selling point.

How could they possibly not consider a quitter and a job-hopping bullshitter with zero (oh, I almost forgot, you're now crowing that you have 2 months) experience?

A no-brainer for Schneider for sure. They're lucky that you are interested.

For your sake, I hope that Schneider recruiting doesn't follow this board.

Well anyways, time to go get things done around the house. Had prioritize things when I was OTR because I didn't have much time to get things accomplished at home, now it like I have another chance at life to live and enjoy. Peace.

"I followed the industry since I was 16 so I not the average joe that jumps into trucking. I choose Swift due to the fact that the regional they have out of my area is .35 cpm starting out and it is home every weekend.

Oh, I almost missed this pitiful attempt at a signature line that you (thought) had been deleted from the database. You ass-hat. Note the date/time on this lie, fellow forum members:
