Funny you should mention that. If anyone happens to be driving through LA on I 20, EB, keep an eye peeled for a dead gator btw MM 105 + 6, just off the breakdown lane. I only caught a glimpse but it looked huge.

Then notice that, unlike many other states with deer fencing, LA has gator fencing around all the little creeks, etc. Keep that in mind when Fifi needs to take a leak . .

Seen an airplane land on the interstate.
Seen a full family in the Prime truck, Man, wife , three kids and 2 german shepards.
Seen a flatbead break in two.
Seen lightning strike a few times.

This one time back when I was driving a straight truck, I pulled up to this major intersection in a good part of town and noticed the cross traffic acting funny. It took me a bit since I'd been running all day and was pretty tired with sweat running down in my eyes from the hot summer sun.

I noticed traffic was slowing and stopping right in the road ahead so I looked over across the parking lot and saw a wrecked car in, or among rather, the pine trees above a small drop into the lot itself by the road off to the right.

I couldn't see through the trees to the road but since there were people running around in the lot and traffic was stopping, there was obviously something wrong.

Low and behold, I got up into the intersection and see to my right in the middle of the 4 lane road: traffic, 3 more wrecked cars, people running all over, and this one guy. This one guy was dancing in the middle of the road. Naked. This guy was the happiest naked dancing in traffic guy that I've ever seen.

I don't know if he caused the wrecks or was just happy about them or didn't even know that anyone else was there or where he was or who he was. The news never said a word about it, which was odd. He was there though, on that hot sunny day. Naked dancing in traffic guy. I will never forget that.

I once saw a Swift driver back into a spot at a truck stop and get it in straight on the first try without hitting the truck on either side ot the hole he was backing into.

X3 on that Swift driver hitting the hole!

BigWheels 05-30-2008 03:05 PM

Today, I saw a man in a pickup truck with a dog in the passenger seat.

Nothin' strange there.

However, in the back, he had not one, but two full pallets of pamper diapers. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/a...ucket/1-14.gif

TruckerChris 05-30-2008 04:01 PM

A CFI driver that actually waved back.

Come on now driver, I did it all the time when I worked for Swift. Mind you I was trained elsewhere and came to them with 2.5 years experience, including 15 months in local opertaions. I used to bet people I could. I had a nice little racket going for a while.

robertt 05-30-2008 05:07 PM

Saw a guy with an eye patch driving down the road with a parrot on his shoulder. Couldn't see if he had a peg leg or not. :D

Morning Star 05-30-2008 07:55 PM

I saw a Roadway truck that had crashed over an embankment on I-80 in PA near Snow Shoe Mountain. At the bottom of the embankmant, the tractor and the two trailers formed a Z. I don't imagine the driver made it out alive.

Malaki86 05-30-2008 11:48 PM

Last winter I was crossing the OH/MI state line and saw a truck do a 180 in the highway. He didn't jackknife - he literally turned the truck around in a straight line while doing about 50mph.

Mr. Ford95 05-31-2008 01:06 AM

Weirdest thing I seen, truck load of ping pong balls rolling around the chicken coop. 8)

In truth, seen a gallon paint can rolling down the highway luckily I missed it by mere inches with my steer tire. Caught it on my step and got a splash effect of yellow going on down my right side now to highlight the red paint. Never caught the vehicle it came off of.

Had a coyote leading me down the interstate in western VA one evening. I had slowed to 50 thinking it was a deer and it was staying in front of me without a problem. Stayed out ahead of me for about a mile.

Yesterday, seen a fuel cell from a car laying on the shoulder but no car to be found. :?

Thursday morning flying j in commerce Ga, man was standing outside door. had his shirt pulled way up and his big pot belly sticking out, he was putting little stickers all over his chest. I walked by and tried to ignore him, as I passed, I heard him say..if somebody doesnt say something soon, I'm gonna slap the :dung: out of somebody.

golfhobo 05-31-2008 03:34 AM

May not be the WIERDEST thing so far that I've seen.... but....

Saw a hawk leave it's perch off a cliff on the left side of the road and basically chase down a truck and fly right into the left side of the trailer! Since both were going essentially the same way, it didn't kill him..... just knocked him silly and he fell flat on his back in the fast lane.

As I approached and swerved, I could see him using his wings to try to raise his head up..... and I could SWEAR he was shaking it to clear the little "birdies" that must've been circling it!!

His eyes were as big as saucers, and "swimming" around, and his mouth was open like he was yelling "SH!T! That hurts!"

I radioed back to warn others to avoid squashing him, and I really HOPE he had a chance to get up and "walk away!" Probably should do a little "retraining" though! Talk about a "preventable!"

Twilight Flyer 05-31-2008 03:38 AM

Hey Hobo...a few years back, I saw a hawk nail a snake that was crossing the road. It was a country road and they ended up right on the edge. Nothing else but me for miles, so I pulled over and watched. Took him about 2 minutes to get the snake flight worthy, then he carried it up to a nearby fence post to feast on. Pretty cool.

Nope! Probably "The Rev!"

Twilight: I've said this before, but will again for newbies, and those who are still learning about our great country and it's treasures....

Unlike the Carrions (Ravens and Buzzards,) who NEVER get hit by a truck because they are more concerned with their OWN lives than their "mission," HAWKS are easily.... and often.... killed by trucks because they are HUNTERS and are "single minded" about their mission of catching LIVE prey (not roadkill.)

They have "tunnel vision" when they are hunting, and they are totally unaware of US! So.... it is incumbent on US to be aware of THEM! Though it is unlikely, you MAY someday find an Eagle in the same "pursuit," and he will be as "blind" to you as the Hawk is! PLEASE.... learn the difference between Hawks and Ravens..... and slow down to protect the Hawk..... and try your BEST to kill a Raven!

We are ALL god's creatures except the Raven (who is the Devil's seed!) and we should do what we can to protect our OWN!

I don't know.... color me "crazy"..... but a hawk (or an Eagle) is a beautiful thing to see! Ravens are a dime a dozen and feed off the dead!

Um.... you LOCAL drivers are exempt from this lesson, as you will probably never SEE such beauty during your careers!

Nogales, Arizona, July 16, 2004.

I saw a dog chasing a cat, and they were both hitch hiking!!

I saw two air lines on the side of the road with glad hands attached to them, I don't even want to know the circumstances how they got there.

I-29 North Dakota just north of Grand Forks.

In the granny lane, there it was, a fully blown up female blow up doll.

while traveling eastbound on i-80 through the mountains in eastern utah, nearing wyoming, and coming around a curve. there was some pale white guy riding his horse. he had made his own custom viking armor that was most likely made of cardboard, covered with aluminum foil, and he was wielding a big, phony broadsword. his horse was also decked out in the home made armor. to top it off, he was wearing a viking helmet. it was the single most funny thing i saw during my first 6 months of otr driving. this took place back in january of 2007. i was laughing my ass off all the way to fort bridger where i refueled and shut down for my 10hrs. i was still laughing about it while on my way through wyoming and to north platte, nebraska.

another weird site i saw was an old woman flashing her saggy thingies at me while i was traveling westbound on i-10 through louisiana. i was approximately 20 miles east of lafayette.
