advice

i need some advice. i got my cdl's in oct 07. i went to train with mcelroy truck lines . i went otr with the trainer for 4 weeks, i quit the final week, because i did not like flat bed. the problem with that now is i can't find a company that will hire me. i applied with kllm in jan, but i couln't go to orientation at that time, due to i had to go and do some training with the national gaurds for two weeks. that was the end of jan, i had to do my two weeks from 2/16 to 3/1. everything was set for me to go to training with kllm. well i get a phone call from kllm , telling me there was an over site in my back ground check. it seems u cant have two alcohol violations. i had a dwi in 1989 and 1995 i had a open beer in the car! i have no points on my liscense, i have no accidents. does anyone know a company that will hire me. (not flatbed) i am open to all comments. i am ready to get on with this career.

Hey, regardless of what people think - they offered you a job when no one else would. That deserves some loyalty to them. This is just the beginning - enjoy the ride.

I'm bettin you don't do much drinking and driving anymore, right?

PS: An open container in the vehicle is illegal. You knew that. And the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.

Not all states make it illegal to have an open container in the vehicle.

"As of November, 2007, only one state (Mississippi) allows drivers to consume alcohol while driving (as long as the driver stays below the 0.08% blood alcohol content limit for drunk driving), and only eight states (Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia) allow passengers to consume alcohol while the vehicle is in motion. Still, local laws in these states may limit open containers in vehicles, although those local laws do not impact the state's compliance or noncompliance with TEA-21." see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_...container_laws

Well since you didn't like Wikipedia how about these:

http://jalopnik.com/cars/rules-of-th...aws-320529.php
http://www.stateline.org/live/ViewPa...ontentId=15435
http://www.madd.org/Media-Center/Med...aw.aspx?law=27 -- Take Action!

http://www.newszap.com/articles/2004...ver/news08.txt
http://indianalawblog.com/archives/2...law_the_1.html

That is 6 other websites that says the same thing. Please take special notice at madd.org. I think you would agree if any goup knows the open container laws it would be them.

Maybe before you make such a statement you do a little on your own. I know I did.

hey fellas! its been awhile since i post anything, Just wanted to bring you up to speed. As you can see from my op, i had problems getting hired. Well, i went to orientation with CR England thats was march '07. To make a long story short, i quit and flew home from UT. I took a couple of months off, and started back hitting the pavement, putting applications out. The only company that responded back was PTL. So, after asking questions with the recruiter, i decided to give it a shot. The recruiter was up front with everything. At PTL you dont have a triainer to go out with you. They put two students in a truck ,give you a load and your off, this was june '07. Boy! you talking about some scary stuff, try to sleep with someone driving and they have the same experience as you. At PTl the truck has to do 30,000 miles before you can go solo. well we made 30,000 miles and we both got our trucks. Its alot diffent driving solo than teams. i got my truck in aug '07 , PTL keep me busy, i was average about 2500 miles a wk. everything was going great until i got a phone call. My readiness NCO call me , to tell me my name come up to go to iraq. So, i had to take a leave of absence December 1 2008. After, 4 months of training in the US. I have arrived here in baghdad april 16. I really miss driving! Sorry for the long post!!
