Simple. Don't use the clutch.

Park on a hill right near the top.
Press down on the clutch pedal.
Shift into high range and reverse.
Release the brakes.
As you start to roll backward and reach a good speed, release the clutch pedal and mash the throttle.
Remove transmission from gear.
Slam on the brakes.
Product is now shifted.

This was saved for extreme conditions when a scale was known to be open en route and the bunker FINALLY dislodged into your trailer. Rare as hell. Maybe 2 times a month out of 80 loads.

You're right, if you could get the truck rolling backwards downhill and pop it into hi reverse without the clutch, there would be no clutch wear, but I don't believe the others were intending to do it that way.

On level or uphill ground it is abusive.
