Basic Tools?

I was told to bring the basic tools for pre trip inspections. Other than a wrench, what would those "other tools" be??

Thank you for any help :D

A "basic" tool kit for a driver would consist of:

1 quality 6 inch adjustable wrench
1 12-18 inch pry bar
1 hammer
1 dual chuck tire gauge able to measure up to 120 psi min.
I roll duct tape
1 multi bit screw driver or a slot, phillips and a few different sized torx screw drivers.
1. Flash light with spare batteries
1. 100 foot tape measure

I would add a decent socket set. Makes replacing mud flaps a lot easier.

Thank You both! :D

Forgot one thing that comes in handy. Vice grips.

Always carry a spare flux capacitor, might catch something on the pre-trip that requires a new one.

With the way some of these idiots dispatch trucks you might want to carry at least 3.

Sure, I can deliver that load yesterday. No problem.

Good leather gloves.

6" plastic ruler to check slack adjusters.

3/8 open end/box wrench to adjust brakes, if your company trains and qualifies you as a "Brake Inspector".

Don't forget the KY. :P

Cinnamon flavored tooth pick.
An attitude, and a coffee mug.

If it doesn't move enough...WD-40.
If it moves too much..........Duct Tape.

the basics for pretrip... be like a lot of drivers .. just a pen & your log book to just check off everything is in working order.. thats it!!

softnrough 06-28-2007 05:47 AM

Pardon my ignorance but what exactly is a flux capacitor? :?

heavyhaulerss 06-28-2007 06:05 AM

a flux capacitor only works if it has the 1.21 jigawatts needed for optimum performance. but be warned when finally engaged, you will then be in the time cuntinuum, wich would put you in limbo as far as reality goes... hope this helps...

Don't worry about it too much. You will really only need one or two of them if your last name is McFly and you have a desire to go Back To The Future.

A flux capacitor was the device used in the movie Back to the Future to enable the delorean to time travel. They are just pulling your chain, ignore it.
