Talk about brutal honesty.

That's strange. I'm home almost every weekend (probably 9 out of 10 weekends, friday-monday) and run OTR. I average about 3,000 miles per week.

If this is unemployment, I'd hate to see what I'd have to run if I was employed.

It seems like it would be a tough task and a logistical nightmare to get a whole fleet of drivers off for the weekend.

Also did you get fri and sat or sat and sun or even sun and mon off?

It will depend on where you live. I worked 7 months OTR for TMC transportation and they got me home EVERY SINGLE weekend except one and that was my choice to run out West. I now run a dedicated route for them and am home every night. They guarantee 46/52 weekends home in writing and most of our drivers are home much more often than that if desired.
If you have any questions, feel free to call me at the number below if you want to talk. Any afternoon or evening is fine.
Good Luck!

There are lots of companies that will get you home for the weekend. Most any flatbed company will and a lot of van companies are now offering it through regional runs.

I got home every weekend with Maverick. Ususally rolled in late afternoon to early evening on Friday, but never got home later that Friday night. Even got home on Thursday a couple of times, of course you'll give up miles if you do this very often. I usually left out late Sunday afternoon. There were times when I could leave Monday morning, but I usually chose to leave on Sunday to get a jump on the week. I think what area of the country you live in makes a difference, but I don't think it matters if you are out in the sticks. I'm in about as rural of an area as you can be and getting home was never a problem.

Sure some companies might use it just to get you in the door, but I doubt that is common practice. Drivers simply wouldn't stay if they kept them out every weekend after promising they would be home.

P & P Transport.

My dad works here. Says its the best company he ever drove for.
He usually gets home friday morn/evening and leaves sunday night or monday morning.
If you get a Freightliner, they are some nice trucks. Hate the Internationals though.

They req Hazmats, 3-5 years exp, 25 years old

there should be alot, cause when i decide to do a run for someone on the weekends, there is hardly any truck traffic, at least along I-76 turnpike all the way to the indiana turnpike and the cb is quiet!!! not to mention alot of shippers and receivers are closed.

I've been at Westar 3 months now, the only time I was not home during the weekend, I had a load to deliver in Utah on Monday morning, loaded Wednesday. Home Thursday and Friday, drove Sat and Sun. I still consider that home on the weekend though.
