forget the phone calls.get in their face.that government job probably requires using the computer or going to the employment office. i checked with a paving oufit here and they said you have to go to the teamsters office.i would do the ltl thing if i didnt live so far out and was a little younger.this economy might be going down from hearing about freight volumes and fuel prices.alot of this stuff kicks in 6 months down the line.best to get started

Just got my W-2's from JB Hunt....

Three months on the road....

Total Income = $5534.12

That was the bottom line, and the reason why there wasn't a forth month. :wink:

3 months on my local job made 8,500 and thats only working 4 days a week and no weekends. :roll:

After runnning local awhile, you'll wonder just why in the hell you spent so much time on the job in OTR donating all of your time away for nothing. Especially when you can make similar money being home every night and off every weekend (a FULL weekend not OTR weekend = home Saturday morning and rolling out the door Sunday evening) with 2X better bennies. Once you come to that realization, you'll never ever look back.

The tell-tale sign of a good company is that it doesn't advertise. Why? Because it doesn't have to. Turnover is very low and job satisfaction is very high. At some places, the only way you can get hired on is if someone dies or retires.

That's why the vast majority of OTR jobs suck. Those outfits are CONSTANTLY advertising for drivers.

Looks like you've got the yearnings to be a P&D man. Yessir, takes a special breed to peddle freight around town. You'll bump more docks in a day than a road driver does all week. But you've got to be handy with the steel if you know what I mean. :D
