Be ready to take the risk involved all I takes is one mistake (accident),and you will never drive truck again,or at least 7 years,so be ready rookie this is just like gambling,3 months driving, and one accident no injuries, no trucking companies will give me a second chance,oh btw clean mvr before that and worked my last factory job for 19 years, but none of that matters. please dont pm me unless you are a recuiter willing to hire me,no offence but I have tried over 100 companies. yes I use to eat, sleep, and breathe trucking, not too many careers where you dont get a second chance,

I know several companies here that have drivers with several accidents on there record. These are not corporate trucking jobs, but small companies with less than 50 drivers. You need to quit looking at all the driver mills and look at something small like and mom and pop outfit! If they have a recruiter they are probably too big to want to hire ya. Look at the smaller companies!!!

You have to do this. You know damned well you have to give this a shot. So call a recruiter today- no more stalling- we'll expect a full report.

I think if you can't decide on making choices in your life then its time for you to get married and learn to say "yes dear", sounds like your still livin at home under momma's wing, learn to fly before you jump. Maybe you should ask yer daddy what he thinks.. can johnny come out to play.

Dont know if I am afraid that I will hate it, or if I am afraid that I will like it? Still just sitting here twisting my thumbs everyday thinking that tomorrow will be the day I call the recruiter, and it never happens :!:

What do yall have to say about that? :?:

I would not recommend OTR truck-driving to anyone. It's too many hours for the pay. You've got to fudge the book to get miles, which opens you up to lawsuits, huge fines, and jail time in the event of a wreck. Nobody cares about wasting your time...you'll sit for hours uncompensated waiting on load assignments, getting loaded/unloaded, traffic, PM's, etc. No overtime after 40 hours. Poor diet, lack of excercise, and irregular work schedules reak havoc on your mind/body.

If you've got nothing going for you, it might be OK. If you're young and have any sort of ambitions in life then you're crazy to drive truck.

All that stuff is as true as you make it. You have control over your log book, your eating habits, etc.

I went OTR when I was 23 and stayed there for 10 years. I'm 56 now, and I'm just so glad I did that. I enjoyed it immensely. I say you go!
