Scooter,

Don't let them do that to you. A few hours here or there are one thing, but 17 hours as a rookie and new to the company, that is just to much.

I would tell my dispatchers to start all of my new people out slow, just so that we knew that they could at least do the minimum required of them. If they could handle that, then we went to the next step of driving some miles. But nothing like what you did.

When I first started driving, I was run like that too. And it was not long after that, that I almost killed myself. I soon quit, and moved on, because it just got worse. Talk with dispatch and tell them no more suicide runs, or they can find another ass for their seat. Because more then likely, that is what you are to them, just another ass.

Don't play that game, it is not worth it!

Stupid

What they said. It's not the company you have to worry about, it's the LEOs. "get here as fast as you can" Who ever told you that meant LEGALLY! I'm guessing, but I could be wrong, you have something holding your ears apart, use it! BOL

driving over the HOS is just plain wrong. nothing is that important especially a load or money

Not everyone has stories about "long runs". Worst violation I've ever had is four minutes.

Running over the HOS is all fine and well until you get in a wreck. In all the scenarios I've heard to scare people to comply to HOS they always say "What if you fall asleep and hit a bus full of kids or something?" Well you wouldn't even need to fall asleep. What if that bus driver pulled out in front of you and you hit them. Even if you absolutely did NOTHING wrong, you're going to be investigated and when they find out you are in violation of your HOS you are going down hard like Rosey Odonnal after slipping on a stick of butter. (Sorry I just really hate that woman).
