Need Help Choosing Company Please Help

Hello, I am in school at chattanooga state for my cdl and I have 14 job offers, but have got it down to 4 companies and if anyone has anything good or bad about these companies please let me know. Here they are:
Averitt Express, Maverick, McElroy, and Colonial.

I am looking for a company that have great insurance(I have a family of 3), great equipment, great miles, good money, and good home time. I have talked to all these companies about three or more times, but still cannot decide on which one to go with.

I was in the military for 4 years and hauled my on equipment on flatbeds and like it(but I know that the exper. don't transfer). I have talked to a Maverick employee(wonderman) and He loves Maverick. But would like to talk to someone that works for the other 3 companies to see how it compares to maverick. Any info would be great. Thanks for your time. :?

I used to run into a lot of Averitt drivers when I pulled a box around. Most seemed to be happy with them. Since you are in Tennessee, you should not have any problem getting home. They are a bit rigid about your appearance, but that only serves to present a professional image. Oher than that, I don't recall any negative information. We have heard from several Maverick drivers on this forum. Most seem to be happy with their choice. I think it boils down to what you want to do. If you want to pull a flat bed I would probably go with Maverick, at least starting out. I think they have a decent training program. I am not sure about the others. You could do a search and probably find out a lot of information on any company.

Along with GMAN's post, someone else that would be good for you in Tennessee would be First Fleet. They are a dedicated contract carrier. They are based out of Murfreesboro(spelling). In fact,First Fleet has a yard right down the road from our yard. They have,I would guess,10,or 12 trucks here. I see almost all of their trucks in their yard on the weekends, and some atleast once during the week. That would also be a good company to go with.

I would go with Averitt being a family man. Read my tread about Averitt.

First Fleet requires 2 yrs exper. to drive for them.

I haven't read too much about the other companies on any MB I've visited, but have read repeatedly that Maverick's securement training is excellent. Maybe you should look at that aspect of the 4 companies to help narrow it down. As a newbie, I would think you would want to get the best training possible as it will set the tone for the rest of your career. BOL with this.
