Right on brother. Syncro should take his experience of going through training and driving for Swift, His humorous attitude and any insight he should have and hit the bricks. I am glad that you share my thought that POSTING ON AN INTERNET TRUCKING MESSAGE BOARD IS SERIOUS BUSINESS!!!!!!Originally Posted by tradesman
You will get very far in life with your negative attitude, if you hate trucking why do you even come on the board. For your information there are some good OTR companies and some pay well. I really wish guys like you would just leave this forum. Most of you are just a bunch of babies who know it all.

I think they pretty well summed it up, slow freight, company CDL schools shutting down, long time drivers getting starved out. Now is probably the worst time to get into trucking, especially as a student. If you are willing to take a job that no one else wants, you might try JB Hunt, CR England still has their school open. You can probably get into a truck, but the question is, will you be able to stay on the job long enough to get the experience to get one of those good paying OTR jobs that was mentioned earlier. You may be able to get into a smaller company, maybe driving dump trucks or hauling propane or one of the waste management companies. But really if you do not have a solid prospect, going to school may be a big waste of time and money right now. If you are willing to knock on alot of doors, you may find something, but I think there are many, many people in your shoes right now, so you would have to have something to offer that everyone else does not, and needing to still go to school, it's a longshot. A lot of people are not willing to work too hard to get what they want, if you can go the extra 50 miles and have drive and a positive attitude you just be the one who gets the job, but, READ: its going to be very tough right now. Good Luck, I really hope you find what you are looking for.

You have to admit, Vance is pretty hilarious, considering his recent move BACK into OTR!

Why did you stop driving three years ago? Did you take a local driving job or did you do something else altogether? If you drove locally, then you can probably be hired without taking a refresher course. If you got out of driving altogether, then you will probably have to take a refresher course.Originally Posted by BobbyBX
Hi here's my situation. I have a total of 3 years otr experience, but I don't have any otr experience within the past 3 years. Appearantly I have to start all over again and apply as a student. I've tried this and haven't found a job yet. Does anyone have any suggestions or feedback? I want to go over the road, no Canada.

You mean freight is slow right now? I had no idea. I was going to get a loan for a new Pete 379 with no money down and haul produce to L.A. with my brother. Is it a bad time to do that? We would run outlaw and stay hopped up on Adderall and never stop, c'mon! You can make money running like that, no?
