Getting my CDL, now what?

Subscribe
Ok, here is what I have going on. I am getting my CDL from an accredited school. 170 hours, with over 100 behind the wheel. I know that doesnt mean much at all. My question is, where to go next. The school has recruiters there almost everyday. They all have the same speech. I do not need tuition reimbursed, as my school is paid by grant money. So with that being said, what is the best path for me? I have a few ins at local companies. One is good pay, all local, but cannot be hired on due to a relative being employed, so 89 days on, 1 day off. No benefits. Also have another shot with a local company, but not sure what they want for experience. Should I take the local, no benefits to get experience? If so, how long is enough to get experience?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Is there some reason why you can't / won't go OTR?

You do pretty much what you already are doing, find out local opportunities what they offer, then expand to not so local jobs.Investigate with whatever resources(this site, truck stops, drivers from that company). Then you have to make a personal decision and plan on staying a year or two (two looks alot better in any case). Good Luck

it helped me to make a chart when I was comparing companies. Training pay, and how long. CPM after training, CPM after one year. 401K contributions, how long until vested. any out of pocket $ to start, that way I could see side to side who was the best and fit me me best

So, what was your final decision - who are you driving for now?
