I usually drive a straight truck doing local stuff. Anyway, I have to take a Semi truck on a 4 day multi stop run. I carry frozen foods and am wondering if a electric pallet jack will survive (im thinking frozen batteries) for 4 days at 0-10 degrees?

Will one of those insulating folding walls (what are they called?) keep the back of the trailer warm enough for the batteries?

I have to deliver to schools and have to sometimes park on the street because you can't always get a semi very close. The trailer has a lift gate but the pallets weigh about 2000 lbs. Using a manual pallet jack for this stuff from a street to a building can be very difficult.

Any ideas?

YES. They are called "Bulkheads". When I worked for a foodservice compnay on of our routes required an electric jack(all other routes had manual jacks). They would put the jack in the cooler area of the truck behind the bulkhead, never had a problem with the jack either.

The batteries should stay charged if they don't freeze. The 4th day i'll be empty and returning so It is only for three days.[/list]

The driver who delivers the milk to the Wal-Mart I work at has his electric jack parked inside the trailer in the cold. Granted it's not frozen, only refrigerated to around 32-35F but its parked in there all day.

The batteries in our electric pallet jack will last all day unloading up to 4 trucks (usually between 10-26 pallets each) before it gets below a 1/2 charge if we don't hook up the charger in between. The battery reserve will last a long time if the batteries are in good shape.

4 trucks/day for an electric pallet truck is quite a lot. What model are you using, if I may ask?
