After a month of applying for a job,i found out i wasn't very desireable due to not enough experience..i already have cdl-ax but without exp i would have to hire back on for company sponsored training, which makes me owe them and have to take alot more crap then if i paid for it out right..
I'm going to pay for training out of pocket and doing this i will get refreshed and be back where i was when i drove for schneirder. Also i might get this covered by my state (mich)for no worker left behind program..i go to orientation for this sept 6 (to see if i'm eligable)..meanwhile tommorrow i will be going to trainco to set up my training with them which starts sept 10 thru oct 4..its local which helps me out....
Trainco offers quite a few trucking companys that i wouldn't even be able to appy for and some i have already...i'm staying away from the worst ones by doing this...
I want to have more home time then being out 2-3 weeks at a time..A few companys offer this and i know i will be otr for atleast 6 months..i failed to do this the first time i went OTR and this is where it has landed me.I guess i thought i could work around this but i was wrong..
Now i'm FULLY COMMITTED to doing what All of you have already done!
I need some advice still tho and this is the best place for me to get it...
I'm looking at tanker or flatbed ,still leaving van open as a option..which will get me home the most often ...once a week is fine....My main goal is to become a local driver.....can anyone give me some advice on what or where i should start..
thank
