Roadhog

Roadie has been missing for 4 days now..

golfhobo 01-28-2013 07:20 AM

I think you mean 4 WEEKS. He said that his last post would be his last post... but that was in the "last post wins" thread. I hope that is all he meant.

He told me awhile back that he had another vicious round of chemo coming. He struggles to post during those times. I hope he is okay. I've been worried about him alot lately, and have been meaning to PM him... not that he has the strength to answer.

It wouldn't surprise me if he just meant that he was no longer interested in responding to a board where some members have become so hateful and irrelevant. That I can understand, as I've been entertaining the idea of leaving as well.

But, I don't have a good feeling about this absense.

Does anyone have his phone number? I think I did at one time, but lost it when my puter crashed and I lost my AOL account.

I know the mods have his email addy... though, that may not help.

I only hope that he is just too sick right now to participate, and that he will get a little better soon. I hope. I continue to have hope.

Garrh! m8-tee, when I lurk, you're not suppose to "see" me. :D

Some of you thought I got paroled, and your jealous, but I've only been hanging out at the Infirmary, hoping to "get lucky." (sponge bath)
Yoose guys can PM or email me through the links on my profile page, but please notice I added a Comdata $2.00 messaging fee.
So far no one pays it.

Ice fishing has been good, and I have a couple m8's who have been passing along some northern pike, walleye, and some brown trout.
I'm too weak yet to be out on the ice, but I'll be off this treatment in April, so I hope to feel well enough to do some fishing by May.
I just bought a Ford F-150 XL (no photos yet) and am looking for a nice 14 ft. fish boat. I like the mid-console Lund or Starcraft the best.
Sold my last fishing rig back in '02 when I began OTR.

My best friend, since we were 10 yrs. old, caught this nice 12 lb. male brown trout through the ice on the lake I live on. (Lake Leelanau)
That's a good size for this lake.
Browns are best smoked!
You hold them by the head, pinch both gills shut (to get a good draw) then light his ass.
When you get the tail half lit, release the gill covers for a huge carburated HIT! :)

LOL :) And to think we were worried about you!

Glad to hear from you, Hog. We have missed you here. Post a picture of your new wheels!

I am slowing down now m8.
River fishing is getting a little ruff, so I think I'm going to get me a boat.

Oops.

Jackrabbit379 02-06-2013 04:54 AM

Hope you get better roadhog..

Them are some good looking fish. I've never ice fished. Around here, well...it doesn't get cold enough, and well the ice isn't thick enough to walk on it. :p
I didn't even renew my license last September. Haven't had time and it's hard to fish with no water in the lakes. :p

Fredog 02-07-2013 03:32 AM

Thanks for worrying us *******!! seriously, I hope you feel better and continue to entertain us with your antics..

I was going to go ice fishing, but ran into a problem

:) here is my secret to getting the big ones.
Stick your feet in the water, wait 5 minutes, then just pick out the biggest ones laying on their side, on the surface.

'96 Lund Laker 16, built-in live well, nav lights, elec. troll motor, fish finder, with a '04 Evinrude 30hp elec. start, power asst. tilt.
(only thing it didn't come with, is a fish spy camera. Cabela's: MarCum VS825SD Underwater Camera

It's j-u-s-t big enough to allow me to get out on Lake Michigan Bays, out to the rollers, before the afternoon winds pick up.
Lots of nice size perch and smallmouth bass on the Bays, with trout in the spring, and salmon in the fall.

This boat is built to handle the big muskie we have around here, and I'll be fishing mostly smaller lakes, for perch. walleye, pike, bass, and muskie's.

CleeIB 02-11-2013 06:24 AM

That is super-cool, Hog. You will have to show us some pictures from the water when it warms up. wot, I bet the compartments below the seats could serve that purpose.

Always running out of chum. :)

Some unsuspecting tourist, feels "honored" if you invite them to go fishing with you. :roll3:

The boat has a factory built-in stainless steel live well that pumps in fresh water, and keeps it aerated.
You can also just leave it off, and fill the tank with crushed ice, and you have a self-draining ice chest. :)

I get to use all that 12volt crap for my truck, I have left over from OTR driving.
One thing on my "bucket list" is to ride an ejection seat, so I am looking for one to mount where the bow seat is.
It would come in handy, if I get surrounded by DNR Agents, for shining mermaids late at night. ;)

I really don't know what happened, as it seems it happened so fast.
Shania has been totally ignoring me, so it seems I have a new object of my affections, for now.

I loosened the catch on her top, and slipped it off, to get a better look at her, and one thing led to another... :o
Now I'm out in the garage with a strawberry scented candle, some Barry White music in the background, and I tell her my fishing stories.
... oh, and I found out she really hates tap water. :p

My 'bucket list' would simply have to start with a flight over Mt.Everest..."Top o the world Ma"

Roadhog 02-12-2013 01:17 PM

I'd also like to take a long ride on the Shania Twain....... Toot Toooooooooot! :D

(swagger-swagger-swagger)

Yarr Harr m8's Hog finally gets lucky, and his fingers stink like fish! Harr harr

caught my first steelhead of the season, and it was a nice 6 lb. female with her eggs still.
That is the perfect first catch, because you want those eggs. That is gold for bait.

It's still early. The lakes are still frozen, so the water temperature is too cold yet at 40 degrees.
We got aboot 3 foot of snow in the last month, so it's been a long winter still here.
Snowed 3" just 2 days ago.
Once the ice if off the lakes, and the water warms a little more, the steelies will be doing their spawning run.
There are just a few starting to come in now.

I'm fishing off the river banks with a 10 ft. trout rod and I was using a white fly.
But now I have fresh steelhead eggs, so I should be getting lucky every time I go out.

Hoggie it is genuinely good to hear that you are feeling better.

The great fishing brings back some rather recent memories from Alaska, along with some from my childhood growing up on the Ohio River. Ah the memories...................

I couldn't help but to notice that the Golfhobofish has apparently migrated to your area. That fancy yellow lure must have been irresistible to that particular species. Are these lures available in multi-packs.........say like in quantities of 6 or 24? I've yet to encounter the Golfhobofish around here..... Although there have been persistent rumors that an Indiana appearance just might be in the works...............B:D

Thanks m8! :)

I'm slowly getting back to normal coming off those drugs, but I'm like a werewolf chaining himself to a radiator, to keep from biting people.

I could use one of your fishing stories to sooth me, so I might stop trying to gnaw my arm off so I can get loose. grrr-snarl-drool

Roadhog 04-27-2013 10:53 PM

Thanks a lot, eh

3 days and no one offered me a fish story, so I gnawed my arm off, and ran after my neighbor's sheep

and, you all know what happened the last time I did that...eh? :o

at first it was the little things, like turning in a tight circle several times as I would go to lay down, the chewing and itching my hide, or drinking out of the toilet. :(
