Those dufus helmets keep you from becoming a real doofus for the rest of your life.

Now you tell me. :smokin:
Good thing my cranium is solid bone. But besides, I'm a knuckle dragger. Anytime I fall off a bike, I always trot away from the wreck on all fours.

I gotta sweet old Schwinn Varsity 10spd. with rear side baskets and the clip down rack between. I've been too sick this last year to ride, but before that I enjoyed riding my bike or walking.

I use to have an old schwinn, a "lemon peeler", had the slick on the back and chopped out. A neighborhood kid stole it and painted it grey. I still haven't recovered from it!

If I get on a bike now it better have a seat cushion the size of the one on my couch. I don't want to feel like I'm wearing a T-back. :)

Don't carry it on the truck - it would get filthy. Too much traffic and exhaust fumes near truck stops anyway.

I will never wear those dufus helmets or those queer bicycle clothes.

I can still ride "no hands"!

Depends, they have a wide variety of helmets at most places these days.
Myself, I just use a $20 skater/BMX helmet and that does me fine.

As far as the lycra goes, I don't wear it but some brands have this chamois padding that acts like a gel-seat cushioning in the "comfort zone".
Sometimes, you could actually find the chamois padding in cycling shorts that look like regular pairs of shorts. Others just wear it as an added undergarment beneath loose-fitting clothes.

I wished I woulda been wearing one when I was a kid! Not that I'm dumb, but I'm sure the frontal head injuries, and concussions may have some to do with some things. :eek2: :p

Jack, I did my fair share of Superman's over the handle bar before helmets became a serious issue. Only after I was forced to wear one for the road trips did I start wearing one. At that time I had one that resembled more of a motorcycle style helmet than a bike helmet. It had a shield that hung down on the front like a sun visor and it was smoked tinted. These days, I don't wear one since I live on a private gravel road but if I get out on the real roads it goes on. I did see 2 bike crashes at the Boy Scout Jamboree, both had the same style crash, over the handle bar and onto their head. 1 was wearing a helmet and was fine other than a jammed neck and concussion. The other one had decided he wasn't wearing his helmet since he was only going 100 yards down the road, he ended up with major head injuries.
