So if these company's recieved up to 1330.00 per retired employee and were able to deduct amounts above that you think that is more expensive than medicare paying for it?

He KNOWS.... and has told me many times..... that "I" am much smarter than him, and blessed with an understanding of the modern world that "evolved" while he was at work. (paraphrased)

He's the most "centered" person I have ever known.... and I DO understand that he has a religious point of focus. But, I don't let that get in the way of my "listening" to what he has to SAY as a father.

My father is not blind to my faults and problems. But, he loves me just the same. It "IS" an unconditional love that he has has been "led" to live his life by. I suspect the fathers among you might somehow understand that.

I made mention of your father taking an iron rod upside your head a few times to wake you up. It was in reference to the whole “spare the rod, spoil the child” axiom and it was pretty easy to discern that as a father, sometimes tough love is a good thing. They won't get the tax break for the 28% subsidy. In essence, they were able to spend $100 ($72 their own money / $28 subsidy) and take a deduction for the full $100. Now we'll be charging corporate taxes on the $28 subsidy. Apparently it will be better to have the companies drop the coverage entirely, so our tax dollars can pay 100% of the tab, instead of leaving alone the portion that we're currently subsidizing. Brilliant.

You guys who run around wringing your hands about corporate scandals don't even recognize when you get what you want, do you? When a company learns of a change in public policy that will affect its forward earnings, it is required by law to take a charge before the end of the current quarter. As luck would have it, your gang rammed through a wicked expensive change in public policy right before the end of the first quarter.

I don't have a fast enough connection to read a bunch of linked articles at the moment, but it sounds like that article probably accuses Democrats of doing exactly what they (and you) are doing. An unfortunate consequence of a 2700 page monstrosity has been brought to light, so it's time to start demonizing corporate America once again.

Waxman doesn't even bother asking why the CEOs made the statements anymore. I guess someone helped him read the law. Now he wants to drag these guys before congress in order to politicize the issue and grandstand about how awesomely awesome their (hypothetical) cost savings will be from the overall law, so they should just shut up about their billions of dollars in (actual) costs from the law - costs about which it would be illegal for them to shut up.

I won't pretend to give a rat's ass about the NASA story. Once the administration decided to scrap space exploration in favor of global warming research, I knew what I needed to know there. It really doesn't concern me. Although, maybe he can send a scientist or two to check out my air conditioning for me. I just had it fixed a few months ago and it's putting out globally warmed air again.
