it goes for trains too

I was unloading at a feed mill in South Carolina, the guy there was unloading railcars. he went to move the train to pull the next car in, and the 5th car in line would not release the brakes, so he walks back to the car and uncouples it figuring they can deal with it later, the problem is he forgot to set the engine brakes, as soon as he released the car, the train took off, he had to chase it down and hop in, he caught it before anything happened. I have never seen anyone run so fast or sweat so much..

A few, short years ago, I would set my trailer brakes instead of the truck's parking brake. Well, I cut that out in January 2005.

I called myself doing that while unhooking a trailer at a customer. The truck happened to be on a slight decline. Soon as I pulled the release arm, the truck started to roll.

Side note: I always feel that I would be one of the first to die in horror movies because I think 1. I usually make the (wrong) decision against my instinct and 2. I don't think *fast* enough.

This particular night, I surprised myself. I couldn't run under the trailer, because the legs weren't down and I if I didn't catch the truck in time, it would've crushed me. So, I ran around the front -- equally retarded, but I'm glad I did! -- I jumped on the running board and mashed the brake with my hand. I was so scared!

However, more than anything, I was just glad no other drivers were back there to laugh at me and call me a dumb ... well, you know ;)

Isn't is Shakespeare who wrote "All's well that end's well?" I say that about most of my days in the truck...
