Save the money and stay awake for the procedure. I had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out at the same time. They will give you a local anesthetic and some nitrous.

I listened to Howard Stern on headsets that they gave me and I didn't feel a thing. My bottom teeth were impacted and had to be cut out. Still didn't experience any pain whatsoever.

Just don't get dry sockets. I heard that REALLY SUCKS.

I was awake when they took my wisdom teeth out. They gave me the local anesthetic and some nitrous and I was set. I felt pain, but the dentist said whenever I felt pain to just inhale the gas. I did and I didn't mine the pain at all. :lol: :lol:

I had mine pulled (all 4 at one sitting) 28 years ago. I paid an oral surgeon about $700 back then. I didn't have an impacted tooth, but a couple were growing in crooked. The cost was the most painful part. This guy yanked them out like nothing, and I never snarled or bit, but I'm sure I glared at him the whole time. :evil:

I'd like to have those teeth back now.
I've lost a few over the years, and what I have left, are almost all crowned.

Costs sure have gotten out of hand. I remember one time needing two molars crowned, and the Dentist wanted $1800. I was living in San Rafael, Ca. at the time. I visited my Dad who was living in Tucson, Az. and went to his Mexican Dentist in Nogales. His Dentist did both crowns for $280. That was 18 years ago, and the crowns are still perfect. Seems all my American Dentistry has failed in one way or another, and had me going back for additional work...costing me even more. Had one gold crown come off, and I swallowed it. Cost me another $1000 to replace it. Most of the time I catch the crown before I loose it. I've never found an American Dentist I've been happy with. I feel they should all at least look like Pam Anderson...so I don't feel so bad being F$@$!! :?

I still have all 4 of my wisdom teeth...no problems with them. I also have 4...er, 3, baby teeth left. And I'm 41. :) It's genetic...my grandmother had 4 baby teeth, mother 2, me 4, one of my daughters will have 2.

I have had 1 cavity my entire life...in one of those baby teeth. Had it drilled and filled when I was in high school by a 74 year old dentist that used no novacaine and had me screaming in the chair. Got it pulled about 5 years ago when the filling fell out and I was under nitrous when he yanked it. That was the single greatest trip I've ever been on. My dentist (great, great guy) kept asking me how I was doing?

"I'm feeling everything...but I don't even care!"

All of mine were impacted and had to be removed. The doctor had to remove bone from my jaw to get them out. Medical insurance and dental insurance paid for some of it, I still had to pay a pretty good hunk of bills for it though. It also managed to hit my annual limit on dental work.

I still have all my wisdom teeth as well. I looked into having teeth removed, and boy did I learn. The insurance would pay nearly everything to have them cleaned. A substantial percentage to have them filled. But nearly NOTHING to have any removed. If I'm not mistaken, about 10% was about the best BLUE CROSS and BLUE SHIELD would do. They want you to "cure" the problems, not get rid of them. And, considering they are not able to give me enough novacane, before drilling to actually deaden the sensation, I would MUCH RATHER, when they want to work on my teeth, take them out and let them work on them on the counter. :wink:

Well it didnt go as bad as i thought it would. The total bill was 1,140.00 bucks so my keystone medical picked up more then they said. I cant smoke for 7-10days or i will get dry socket and they say that is very painfull. It has been 27 hrs. after i got them out and i feel kinda good. I should have done this along time ago. O well this is my story cant wait to get back to normal.

Never had a dry socket, but a friend endured it. He was a smoker, and he 'snuck" one. Got dry sockets in two teeth.

They can't do anything for it, you have to endure it. He described it as being worse than pushing out a pea sized kidney stone - which he did.

Dry socket is easy to cure..take half an asprin and set it right inside the socket..cover the asprin with a cottonball that is wet....burbon worked for me. Next day..socket is in good shape.

Same here. I remember when mine came in when I was a kid. Worst pain I've ever had.
