Pew!

Here is a question...

What's with all the skunks? Do they all come out at a certain time of year, or what? In the last few weeks, I've seen more skunks on the road than you can shake a stick at. Man, a fur trader would make a killing just selling skunk pelts.
Is it just me, or are yall having to dodge a lot of pole cats here lately?

Well it is getting close to spring. Maybe they are the guys looking to get a head start on the females.

Early bird( or skunk) gets the worm( or mate).

you nailed it! breading season for skunks are February and March. I had to make some advanced maneuvers to avoid a stink cat just the other day. them things stink when they get stuck between the tires.

i've run over about a dozen dead ones and four live ones. there's no change in the stench levels between the dead and ones that were alive before i ran them over. last week, i ran a live one over. i was driving down the freeway with my t-shirt over the lower half of my face for about 10 miles.

another one seemed to get stuck underneath my truck. i parked at a crowded flying j and stunk out the group who was standing near the spot i had backed in to.

New name...

A customer asked whether or not I might have hit one, because she didn't notice the smell until I came in
I warned her and her unloading crew that I would beat up the first person who referred to me as "Pepe"!
I thought it was just me--since I'm more accustomed to seeing 'coons or possums squished on the road!

I was thinking that the other day. I run up and down I-70 between Indy and Columbus, OH every day and and have smelled that distinct smell quite frequently and have seen a couple of dead ones.

To be honest, I don't mind the smell.

Well, I found out that they do come out this time of year. When skunks come out, spring is just around the corner. I guess, I never thought about it, but the highway sure stinks. :P

Well, if you ever ran a skunk through a combine, you would mind it.  Skunks like to keep their babies in wheat fields, and sometimes, they get thrashed.
