Yeah, the HOS will probably be 9 to 5 within the next 10 years. :P

Central Coast Driver 02-04-2008 02:05 PM

That's kind of what I'm doing now. I'm a resident driver living a little over 100 miles west of L.A., in Santa Barbara. I have a round trip route of 320 miles total, heading north to Paso Robles/Cambria and back home when I'm done. I work between 8 and 11 hours a night. A transfer driver brings my load up to me and then he delivers south back to L.A. Only difference is I don't deliver trailers, drop them and then hook up another. I actually unload about half of a 53 foot trailer with eleven stops a night on the central coast. I love it, no more OTR and I see my family everyday.

I think so too.. pay one driver to haul twice the cargo.

As far as the Spanish-speaking part, maybe someone will get lucky and invent a, portable, universal translator.
Wear this thing like a, hell, integrate it into a Bluetooth, and you could kiss
"No-Comprendo" bye-bye.
Either the mono-linguals will get along great, or they'll freak out and run back to where they came.

Oprah,Ted Turner and Univision will own everything behind the scenes.

Don't worry, the Canadian dollar is worth more than the US dollar, with the peso to follow. Pretty soon, we'll have those crappy factories that until now were only built in Mexico, China, and other desirable locales.

I predict HHG to start going into freight trailers and PODS even more.

I predict Hillary will be president and have a "cigar inciden" with a hot young intern (male or female)

I predict the rebirth of 57ft trailers.

I predict my otr career will yield me a few ex wives, a few stepchildren, and that I may finally get my Napolean Dynamite dance routine down.

Because of the costs of operating big trucks, I believe in the next 10 years, they will have new ways of hauling freight.
