Hey Madlux, will there be any bobtail, straight truck or 4-wheeler parking? You'll want smaller spaces for those Panther guys, and those guys who lost their trailer, or the caravans of families going on road trips.

There are a lot of truckstops that are based on either side of a 2-lane road. One side of the road is all the facilities while the other is nothing but parking.

The big question is how many trucks can you accomodate at one time in your design? I would hope you'd hope for a number higher than 150, and maybe 50 4-wheeler spaces, 20-30 bobtail/straight spaces.

I don't think anyone answered your question about the number of pumps at a truckstop. There's typically at least 8 pumps for the 4-wheelers and at least 10 for the trucks. The truck pumps need to be one long line, with pay lane a little over one trucklength past the pump for trucks to pull up and allow others to fuel behind them while they settle the bill.

Keep up the sketch though, we need more truckstops and it'd be great to see yours come to life.

Heck Madlux...You musta done something right. The Rev didn't rip you on your design! What he say's though about Parking spaces and building's, you need to take to heart. You get trucks to close to buildings, and even if there is realisticly plenty of room to manuvere..some dolt will knock holes in walls, just to show there wasn't.

The fuel island for trucks needs to be on long line, with the building making the top of the T You will need to assume 250 feet from curb to fuel island, to allow for trucks waiting to fuel, 85 feet for the fuel bay itself, plus an additional 135 feet for a "pay" lane.   LOL...Include a dedicated tow truck in your design..for Towing the BBR's that feel they can take their shower and do 3 trips through the Buffet, while sitting on the pay line!!!

As for the shop area...it needs to be located separately from the Facility where you will have your food service located. And it needs to be drive through. Trucks will be lined up to get into the service bay's, and that reduces the lot size in a hurry. Realisticly...the Parts department should be Cetered mid-way in the service bay's. Less distance for mechanic's to walk for parts.

Keep working on it...you will come up with a great lay-out in time.

Actually, you want to avoid backing whenever its not needed. When the truck backs out, the mechanic going to stand out there taking responsibility for stopping traffic?

Well, after you create an employee parking area, you still need a special designated are for the SWIFT and CR ENGLAND drivers to have some stuff to roll over, tear down, and run into; I know that other drivers would deeply appreciate that!!
