Another Newbie Question
 

I recently dropped out of seminary, got my CDL and am almost finished with my five weeks of company training before I get my first truck (yay!). I wasn't really thinking about my major hobby (clogging - a noisy, vigorous form of percussive dance) when I started all this, but now I have two questions:

Am I the world's only dancing trucker? Or are there others in this line of work who still find time (and appropriate places) to practice?

And the second question is, how and where does a trucker keep up with dance practice while on the road? I really doubt that truck stops are good places to practice... :roll:

I think River ought to jst hop out in front of that brand new Freightliner and clog his fanny off if that's what he wants to do.

I've met some interesting characters out there, but no cloggers......not as common as, say, TROLLS! :lol:

I love it! :wink: Why not practice at the truckstop?? get yourself a good audience and clog along to your hearts desire. Drivers are good audiences! just dont blow kisses in the wind after the applause... Worst case scenario they'll think you're a nutter and will avoid you 8)

Clogging? Down here ( Ga. ) we call it "Buck Dancing". You know , where a "young buck" (male) tries to impress a young ( any ) female with his fancy steps.

I say go for it. Get you a boom box, crank it up in front of your truck and I'm sure you will draw a crowd. ( The good kind :wink: ).

I dated a Dutch Clogger from Holland, Michigan years back.

It's amazing what you're willing to subject yourself to, in the outside wild chance you might get lucky. :? :P

LOL, thanks you guys. I get home pretty frequently but lately there's only more work to do once I get there. About the only time for practice is on the Sunday afternoons when the cloggin' group meets - but one day a wek ain't enough.

If I'm gonna clog on the road, I'd rather not be the only one - just have to find a way to do it in the truck perhaps (and let folks think I've got a drum set up in the sleeper)!

Just do it like some of those guys who jump rope right out in front of their truck... You get to exercise and have fun and we get to laugh!

Clogging...Sounds like someone has some sinus drainage.

Actually, I dont think I've heard of clogging. It would be cool to have those shoes, though. It would sound like youre ridin a horse, or something when ya walk.

I've been to a few "Clogging" recitals (is that a proper term?) Have friends in Vernal UT, who's daughters took "Clog" lesson's, in the early 80's. You need to sit and watch, to really enjoy it. Hard to believe that heavy wooden shoes, can make something look good.

BTW, that group of boy's & girls in Vernal were 13 to 18, and won several competion's, in UT and in MN.
