I wouldnt mention your clogging in the interview. This industry can be very Anti-clogite. Dont get me wrong, Im all for you and your people finding a great job and Im 100% against all forms dancism. However, Ive always felt the clogs should be kept in the closet. There are some people out there who wouldnt be as tolerant as I am.
Thanks Sal Runstien President of PACP People Against Clogist Persecution. |
Actually, cloggin' is not that wooden shoe thing! It's the "original" American percussive dance (which borrows alot from Irish) from which Tap and Stomp evolved. Most of us wear taps on ordinary shoes, not wooden clogs...
But it would be fun to try it in those wooden shoes. I bet the sound would be awesome! Thanks y'all, Robin |

We have a Dutch community here in Michigan...hehehe...the town is called Holland.
They have lots of ethnic beauty, including the Windmills, huge Tulip farms, and all the traditional dances, costumes and food/drink of the Dutch. That is where I first saw Clogger's. They have a yearly "Tulip Festival" which is very popular here. Lot's of family's bring their children and enjoy the Festival. My folks took me when I was 12 years old, and I'll never forget it. We recently had a gentleman run for Governor who is of Dutch descent. Dick DeVos. I wonder if they caught him "clogging"...if that is why he lost to Jennifer Grandholm?   |

Do we count? Well, not out loud or anything, but as with everything musical, you have to maintain the count in your head.
Clogging has a unique tap-tap-THUMP sound on many steps that sounds like a gallop, and we mix that up with lots of syncopated stuff, turns, leaps, and stuff. It looks as amazing as it sounds! Kinda sorta like "Riverdance" -R |

Thanks y'all, Robin And yes...the sound of the shoes on the hardwood dance floor, along with the music that accompanied them, made for a very awesome sound, and an enjoyable evening. What you do, sorta sounds like "Riverdance" |
