I listened to the bit live and it was halarious. IMHO some of the best radio I have heard from them in years. It was painful to listen to today as they were clearly uncomfortable in their own skin.

My guess is don't have. They are just some guys who talk and once they are gone (now or next time) I will find some other show to listen too as will thousands of other listeners.

I really am a huge O&A fan and wish them the best but if this is the end.....maybe I will get more Ron & Fez. And there is no way in heck that I would ever cancel XM. I can't go back to FM.

It honestly was good radio, Charley was getting more laughs than Bill Burr. This thing is far from over and you sure could hear it in their voices today.

Well, looks like they made it thru this one. It was a good sign when they started to talk about what happened. They played it right, apologized one time and left it at that.

XM radio just suspended them for 30 days

Fozzy 05-15-2007 09:48 AM

good.. maybe they will learn something.. doubtful, but maybe..

Sheepdancer 05-15-2007 09:55 AM

Sheesh, I would hate for them to learn anything. They wont be as funny. I feel especially on XM they should be able to say whatever the hell they want. No matter how offensive it might seem to someone. The problem is not the people who say the offensive things, the problem lies with hyper-sensitive people who can become offended with words. Do you know whats way more offensive than racist comments, homophobic comments or comments about homeless men raping the secretary of state?
CENSORSHIP and the policing of thought.

No its not, the boss who happens to own the station needs to attract advertisers and customers. In this country we have the right to free speech, we do not have the right to do this and demand to get paid for it or demand that there be no standards from those who employ them. Laughing and joking about raping women crosses the line of any decency. Maybe if O&E end up homeless for their free speech rights, maybe THEN they will learn something. To try and drag these standards where you are going means that there should be no limits on any speech anywhere. Do you believe that a member of the military should be able to get on a radio and divulge national secrets? Should credit card companies or an employee thereof be able to give out your home address, phone and of course your credit card number? There are supposed to be self imposed limits to where these rights of speech go. Personal attacks and causing harm to innocent people is unacceptable. I would lose no sleep if they were fired forever. Who NEEDS to hear this?

Well - it's basically like this:
XM is a pay service. Channel 202 is listed as an XL (Extreme Language) channel. To me, they had their safety guards in place.

If it was on FM or AM radio, yes - they should've been fired.

I pay XM for the main reason of listening to them, no matter how offensive YOU think they are. And, again, if you don't like them, don't listen to them. In fact, you don't even need to post about them if you don't like them. Wow - how hard is that? You do know how to operate the controls on your radio, correct?

However, I think I may "suspend" my XM for 30 days as well.

I remember listening to a comedian on channel 150 that was joking about how ALL girls ask for it and there's no such thing as rape.

I don't see it being much different.
