Our CAD Moderators and CAD forum

:D I've been on CAD forum for almost two years. When I first joined it seemed just the place to get just about any kind of advice for anyone wishing to drive a truck for a living. Also diesel-fuel-in-their-veins old salts who've been down just about every interstate and two-lane in the US could swap stories. Anything from whether to go owner-operator with two years experience, what's the best kind of rig to buy, and what's a good recipe for beef stew cooked in a microwave in a Kenworth could be found. We've swapped sports stories and followed our favorite teams. And many of us have made some lifelong friends here.

Seems like some things are going downhill, one of the main ones being lack of respect for the folks who donate their valuable time as moderators for this forum. People like Scoe, Twilight Flyer, Yoopr, Heavenbound, (I'm not sure of GMAN is a moderator but he should be) and the others (they know who they are) have spent more time backing up than some of the newbies have going forward (I only know one personally, Yoopr, and he's a damn good guy for a Yankee :D :D ). These moderators use their God-given talents to keep the peace and make sure this forum is used in the way it was intended. These old farts have driven in every kind of condition imaginable and because they're still here to tell about it attests to their possession of just the simple smarts, relating not only to trucking but to life in general. Because of this vast wealth of experience they choose to share it with others and give of their time to this forum. I have the utmost respect for these people and would address them as "Sir" if I were to meet them in person.

I think it's time we all got back to the basics on these forums as a place to share ideas and learn about the trucking/transportation industry, not use it as a place to flame and attack other people. God made us all different and even though we might not agree with their lifestyles, race, religion, ethnic background or politics these differences make everyone unique and we all need to realize this, accept it, and go on down the road. After all that guy who you flamed or personally attacked a few weeks ago might be the same guy who pulls you from the flaming wreckage of your rig when you run off the interstate at 70 mph on a cold night.

Let's get back to the basics on CAD, folks, and keep it the way it was intended. 8)

An excellent thread, Midnight Flyer!!

The quality of the board HAS gone down, and I admit that at times, I have been guilty of participating in the "negative energy flow". I can admit when I'm wrong, and I do apologize for that.

You are correct, I think that the mod's do contribute a lot, and I wholeheartedly agree that "G-Man" should be a moderator. He's the most decent member on this discussion board.

You are absolutely correct; let's get back to the basics of what this board used to be. I promise that I'll do my part.

Thanks,
Useless

This is what you find from the owner's Jeff and Lucinda Phillips.

About Us
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Visitor,

Thank you for your interest in Class "A" Drivers.com. We are an online recruiting site servicing the Transportation (Trucking) Industry. We want to be your one source for online recruiting and job placement.

Class A Drivers.com was launched in October of 2000 to offer qualified drivers, owner operators, recent driving school graduates, and anyone interested in a career in trucking a place to go when they had one thing in mind, to "Find A Better Trucking Job." A visitor to the site can find what they are looking for in three clicks or less. Class A Drivers.com does not require memberships from drivers seeking employment. These things can only slow down the process of using our services. Helping drivers find a better trucking job is our main focus at Class A Drivers.com and we try to add a personal touch to every interaction we have with both drivers and carriers. Since launching, Class A Drivers.com has continually improved and added features to their web site to meet the needs of today's job seeking truck driver.

Class A Drivers.com offers trucking companies an alternative to high priced online recruiting and advertising sites. While some companies offer "Custom Pricing Structures" based on the size of a company, Class A Drivers.com offers the same affordable rate to all companies. Smaller companies and larger companies can both take advantage of a full membership plan for about the cost of a small print ad in any given trucking magazine. Class A Drivers.com continue to take input from existing and new customers to design a site to meet the needs of carriers of all sizes.

I veiw this Site and Message Board with high regard. The highest level of Proffessionalism can be found here, and whether you are thinking of Driving or are experianced...this place gives you anything you need. A place to learn through the Message Board is invaluable. Tapping into the insights and experiance of the members, and sharing laughs and viewpoints on anything that involves the life of a Trucker, enriches you in many ways. We all learn from each other, and even the personality differences helps us all learn to understand people better....even ourselves better.

All that goes on here is never dull or boring. But Mifdnight Flyer is right. We need to protect this Site...like we protect our Class A License. I don't fear this Site going downhill. Our Moderators are the best in the business, and many of our long-standing members continually do their part as well.

God Bless America...and God Bless American Trucker's :!:

What I find even more mind-boggling is that beck then, there were no CELL PHONES!!!

Imagine trying to operate today without one.

Go back to the 60's and before, and the trucks had no A/C!!! How did those guys ever get any sleep??

traveler15301 12-15-2006 04:45 AM

I believe this thread is in repsonse to what the now locked thread about the CB radio we all know and loved degenerated into. As one poster pointed out, that htread degenerated the same way the CB has.

It started with one controversial comment, followed by some name calling and foul talk which was then RESPONDED to in a similar fashion, followed by "you started it".

I applaud all the mods who attempt to limit it and others on here who refrain from this. Just becasue you do not like what someone has to say do not call them names. If you are called a name do not sink to their level and respond in a like manner.

My wise 'ole pappy told me...."Son, never argue with an idiot, people might not be able to tell the difference!"

So keep up the good work you mods (and others) and illigetimi non carborundum ...

After my start with Schneider I got a Western Star with a cubby hole you have to slither into to get to the bunk and their nicknames were "Coffins" and in the Summer you'd wake up like you slept in a Sauna.
Forgot about the Cell phones but you're right. If you had to make a call you'd have to pull in somewhere to make your call and be put on Hold :P

Bring it ONNNNNNNNNN :P
Won't you ever Learn?
The Term Cracker, if I remember right, goes back to pre-Civil War days and had to do with cracking a whip over the horse or Donkey.
Somebody will set me straight on this I'm sure

Not to "set you straight", Yooper, because I do not know this for a fact, but my understanding of the term "Cracker" is that it is a derogatory term used to refer to white people, and is used in reference to a white overseer using a whip on a negro slave.

No racial flames here, please!!

:D According to Wikipedia, Cracker is also used as a term for persons living in Georgia or Florida, poor white trash, another term for rednecks, and a host of other usages. It's also used as a racial term for white people.

Let's take this to the comedy club, what do you say?

terrylamar 12-15-2006 05:41 AM

In the spirit of the originals posters intent, I too thank the CAD owners, administrators, moderators and posters. I went from know absolutly nothing to being able to speak intelligently on a broad range of subjects. When I was going through CDL school I was able to keep up with the instructors and even pin them down a few times on errors they were making. I'm not saying I'm a know it all, for from that, I still have a lot to learn. This forum, also, helped me find on of the best companies in trucking. I'll be embarking on that adventure in a couple of days. Thands CAD!
