Not really, I'm not much of a NASCAR fan so it doesn't really matter too me. I used to enjoy NASCAR but with all the rule changes and all the commercial aspects NASCAR it isn't what it used to be IMHO. It's all about how many times can a driver say a sponsors name in a interview. It's all about the "Sunoco" fuel when there is a pit stop, instead of saying "Jimmy Johnson's car" it's "The Lowes car" and when they interview a driver after the race it's "The Dupont Chevrolet was a great car today". They have taken out everything good about racing, it should be about the drivers and racing and having fun but instead they have to name drop every sponsor and act like they are corporate robots.

It was a great deal for Sirius, and this "XM vs. Sirius" thing we play on CAD isn't about XM or Sirius it's that I am a O&A fan or others are Howard fans............ and it's my way to get Ken going. :D

Radio exec gets Sirius
again about XM merger

By DAVID HINCKLEY
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

As XM and Sirius Satellite Radio gingerly monitor their busiest selling season, Sirius CEO Mel Karmazin has again raised the possibility the two companies could merge.

While this would obviously have considerable impact on millions of present and future subscribers, there's no indication from either company a merger is imminent or even inevitable.

"Right now, I think it's one of those what-if questions people in the business kick around," said Tom Taylor, editor of the trade magazine Inside Radio.

XM spokesman Chance Patterson said, "We do not comment on rumors and speculation, and this is clearly just that."

Karmazin has talked about a possible merger before, noting it could eliminate a lot of duplicate operating costs - not to mention, skeptics say, a lot of programming choice.

Specifically, Karmazin told Smart Money magazine that "mergers often lead to creating shareholder value" and he has "always been open to that."

He also said he would be less concerned now about regulatory approval for a merger, which has been cited as a major hurdle in the past. He didn't specify what might be different now.

Neither company has yet shown a profitable quarter after investing billions in startup costs and hundreds of millions for programming, notably the $500 million Sirius is spending on the Howard Stern show.

Stern sparked a surge in Sirius sales this year, and the company predicts that it will end the year with 6.3 million subscribers. XM is projecting 7.7 million.

But Bank of America analyst Jonathan Jacoby recently said fourth-quarter retail sales are looking relatively soft, which could produce merger pressure from stockholders who have already seen the value of each company's shares decline this year.

If the services did merge, it could put rivals like Stern and Opie and Anthony on the same platform. It could also theoretically offer, for instance, all four major sports plus NASCAR.

But it would shrink music choices, since it would presumably not carry duplicate channels. Since XM and Sirius have different approaches in areas like oldies and popular standards, this could wipe out the sounds that enticed some people to subscribe in the first place.

That was quite a read, my eyes hurt. Almost everyone is to blame in some way. It almost boils down to the original driver of the truck that seems to have hit a bridge and therefore got terminated wherever he was and then this guy gets sent to pick up the truck that the other guy neglected. They service their trucks every 30,000 so it's up to the driver to help get things taken care of in between which the original driver obviously didn't. Ultimately when he brought the truck to the main terminal they should have just assigned him a different truck then went through the neglected truck.

I know I didn't have much of a problem with my truck. I took care of it real good and when it went in for service I'd go over it with the mechanic that was going to work on it. They were slow but got it done. I got a brand new Columbia in January,2005 and turned it in when I resigned May,2006 with 178,000 miles. I only had one problem with it when it was new, 6000 miles, and it was just the Qualcomm Sensatracs integrated with the truck ECM was messing up my gauges. It got fixed and I never had another problem with it what so ever. I kept it clean and my eye on everything and never had a problem. I really didn't care for it, a FreightLiner Columbia, but I never had to screw around getting it fixed. It made me money like it supposed to.

But yeah, a definite good read 8)
