Lest we forget
A day of gratitude and remembrance dawns upon us soon
On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month The guns fell silent in Northern France, signifying the end of an almighty struggle in which the cream of the Worlds youth were slaughtered Taken from us, but not forgotten In the 88 years that have since passed, we have found ourselves in conflict again and again in defence of what we hold to be of value and the truth At the time of writing, courageous young men and women of our democratic nations are actively involved throughout the world in the fight against terror We sleep soundly in our beds because of their efforts; Which may cost them dearly Can we show our Gratitude? I propose that No one post on these forums at the 11th hour,11th day, 11th month. Thank You |

11TH November is our "Remembrance Day" when we honour our fallen. We chose that day and time as it,s when the armistice came into effect to end The Great War. I salute your fallen heroes too Kev |

I salute your fallen heroes too Kev That's Okay, Wot... We honor YOUR fallen heroes, TOO! (And those of your red-headed Aussie stepchildren, too!) :D Just messin' with ya! Don't want to start an argument on THIS kind of thread! We should ALL be proud of ALL those who've died in service to Freedom! I hate to admit it, but I don't know what day is celebrated in many OTHER countries who have fought beside US (that's you AND us) like some in Africa, for instance. |

Well, speaking as a former Marine, I do not question our excesses. I think Veteran's Day is a well placed holiday. Semper Fi.
