What has loving MY country got to do with NOT believing in the people of IRAQ??
If you saw a woman being beaten would you walk away or would you get involved?
We are not at war with "the Muslims!" Even Dubya says so (so it MUST be true!) We WERE at war with a small faction of Muslim Fundamentalists. And even THAT was an "escalation" of the struggle our POLICE forces (not local of course) have been engaged in for decades now.
We are at war with a group of muslims who have stated quite clearly their goal is to force their religion on the world. That would be a war with muslims...
28 years?? What started in 1980?? As I recall, the Iranian Hostage Crisis was in 79, wasn't it? There were attacks on US citizens prior to the hostage crisis... read your history.
And NO ONE is advocating sitting on our hands! MANY of us believe that the "criminals" of 9/11 should have been hunted down by our elite forces and shot to bloody HELL!! THAT might have "deterred" further attacks on us
But we should wait and only hunt them down AFTER the fact? Sorry I don't think allowing them to strengthen and come back for more rounds is acceptable.
Failing that.... we believe we should have gone after them with force strength and strategy more like what Schwartzkopf employed in the FIRST Gulf War, instead of the Shock and Awe campaign followed by what Bush really believed would be only a "mop up force!"
Hindsight is 20/20.. we must deal with the here and now and stop pissing and moaning about how it should have been. Monday morning quaterbacking is not going to change a thing.
If a WAR was necessary, and I don't believe it WAS, then dangit..... let's go get 'em and "git 'er done!" :shock:

But, the truth is, Saddam's hatred of religious sects, and need to dominate and control his country, would have made him an ALLY of ours had we asked him, to TRAP Al Qaida in the mountains of Afghanistan!

Our country has a PROUD history of "saving the World" TWICE! But, we also have a painful memory of a failed attempt to support the weak and incompetent South Vietnamese! Has Ho Chi Minh bombed us lately?? Or overrun us with his Communist hoards?? :roll:

Actually, there were MANY top advisors giving him FORESIGHT of this at the time, yet he did it "HIS WAY" and there is little ELSE we can do now but "analyze" his failures! Had this BEEN the NFL, this coach would have been FIRED before the end of the first season! Can I quote your last?? You don't evacuate your embassy UNDER FIRE, without having LOST a battle or two! Read up on the Tet Offensive! Furthermore, this is to my point. We rolled into Iraq looking for a BATTLE to win, and found ourselves ONCE AGAIN mired in a Guerilla War!! But, even a West Point Flunkie knows that we can "win every battle.. and Still lose a war!" You might START with the memoirs of many of the leading Generals from the Vietnam War. In fact, I believe Gen. Petreus wrote one titled "Lessons learned from Vietnam." And I'm TIRED of hearing how it's ALL the fault of the "media." The WORST they have done is to give a platform for such propaganda as, "Mission Accomplished..... the War is going Well..... and Stay the Course!" You want to see the results of NO FREE MEDIA?? Check out pre-war Germany, or Cold War Russia! How about Cuba.... or for that matter all these Muslim countries you fear. If it weren't for the FREE PRESS, questioning the actions of the government..... there never would have BEEN the Revolutionary War that made our country FREE.
