South Bend Indiana – December 6 2008 – Barr-Nunn Transportation continues to lead the industry in driver pay and benefits. They have also been in business for 26 years and know what drivers need. The company is always creating new ways to prove to drivers how much it values them and gives back to the community. Barr-Nunn teamed up with the Marine Corps again this year to assist in the delivery of toys for the Toys-for-Tots program.

Toys-for-Tots is a program run by the US Marine Corps Reserve and its mission is to collect new unwrapped toys during October November & December each year. Volunteers from all over participate in this philanthropy in the spirit of the holidays. The toys are given out to underprivileged children in the community.

Barr-Nunn Transportation has partnered with the Marine Corps for the past few years. From advertising for Marine recruitment to volunteering one of their trucks Barr-Nunn is always ready to give a helping hand. Barr-Nunn Company Driver Howard Travers has been involved in Toys-for-Tots for the past five years. This year the program took place on Saturday December 6th in South Bend Indiana.

Howard drove a truck filled with toys to deliver. He originally got involved with Toys-for-Tots because his nephew is a Marine. The previous years had been plagued with bad weather and tragic times and this year was no exception. Nearly 6 inches of snow fell during the event but despite the weather many people were able to come out and participate. They collected close to 20000 toys for numerous children which was more then previous years mainly because of the tough economic times. The program this year took place in the parking lot of the NBC Channel 6 Team Studio.

Howard Travers offers his services out of the good of his heart. He understands that there are some people in the world who aren’t as privileged as others He said during an interview It was great to participate this year because in tough times like these this program is more important than ever.
