Like with most family-owned companies, Summerford Truck Line has a rich and interesting story. At the age of 15, Joe Summerford (father of President John Summerford) traded a bird dog for his first truck.
None of us knows what he was thinking but we all agree it was a good trade!
The company began with just one truck hauling most anything from bricks to produce to turpentine throughout the Tri-States area. John Summerford left his life in farming to join his daddy in the trucking business in 1976 and the family business has continued to grow from there.
Summerford Truck Line, Inc has a diverse past having hauled tankers, reefers, grain trailers and flatbeds. But in recent years, we’ve found our niche specializing in coast-to-coast Flat Bed deliveries of up to 52,000 lbs per load.
