Newbie here with an old/similar question.
 

Some companies will charge you up to 250.00 pet deposit and as for the kid or family member riding with you. You'll have to sign a wavier so the company won't be responsible for any medical issues or fault that may come up while on the truck ( some companys don't permit ANY passengers) ... Just ask EVERY company that interest you these questions at the beginning ... make a list of the companys and Monday set down and start calling to ask them these questions that will affect you and your future driving for them ... also fine out where their Terminals are located ? .... that may affect where they will permit you to drop your trailer and will they permit you to drive your Tractor home / if you have a drive way or yard big enough to hold it while off duty for 2-3 days. ... if the terminal is far from your home - - find out if you could 'just leave' your car setting in the parking lot so when you pull in the terminal at 3:00am to start your time off - - you'll have your car there waiting for you. There are some shippers that don't allow children on their lot. In fact, some don't allow any passengers on the property unless they hold a CDL. That is something to keep in mind when you are thinking about taking children with you in the truck. It is usually not a factor with most, but you don't want children running around the parking lot or on loading docks where machinery and trucks are moving around. Some carriers do have a passenger policy. They may restrict passengers based upon age. Some are more liberal in that area than others. No two carriers are the same. Those who do allow passengers usually require that you purchase an insurance policy for them in addition to the liabilty waiver. It would be best to check with any carrier for whom you want to work before making a decision.

Most companies do not allow children to ride, believe they should be at home and in school, a few will, maybe Werner, JB Hunt, US Xpress, many do not allow pets. Pets tend to tear up trucks and then you get people with allergies. Do you not have anyone to keep the child? They get really bored on the truck. I know of a husband/wife team who recently quit because their 15 year old who had ridden with them off and on got tired and went home, she stayed with grandparents and siblings. But a child really needs to be able to exercise and socialize with other people, trucking doesn't allow that.

I'm not sure if I can say any co. names or not but you may have pets with a non refundable pet permit fee of $250.00 + a $5.00 weekly fee. The company's home terminal is
in Omaha. Nebraska. I-80 exit 440. There one of the top 3 trucking co.'s and they mostly have blue trucks & trailers. Then as far as passengers go they need to be at least
10 yrs old, and have proof of medical insurance, or else purchase some accident insurance for $11.00 a month. Also you need to fill out a passenger permit form. I just read all this
out of there driver handbook, hope it helps.
