It's a feat some of us could only dream of: A Beloit Frito-Lay truck driver has driven two million miles without getting in an accident. That's a new record for female drivers and proof positive that women can drive.

"People always ask me, do you like driving and I always say no, I love driving," says Frito-Lay driver Deb Davis. "Some people smoke or drink or do drugs, I just have to drive."

The mantra, "Do what you love," has worked out well for Davis. She and a colleague from Georgia recently made history as the first female Frito-Lay drivers to travel two million miles accident free. That's the equivalent of nine round trips from the Earth to the Moon!

Davis has a one million mile decal on her truck's cab, marking one million accident free miles, the two million mile sticker is on its way. Now let's find out what keeps her so safe behind the wheel.

"Common sense I guess," says Davis. "You just practice and practice and you just get to know your vehicle and if you don't feel safe, you get out and look."

Frito-Lay posts safety reminders for drivers as they head out on the road. "It's just things to look for and beware of, you know when you're driving."

And they practice constant safety training for all drivers. "Once a year we have an obstacle course and you get graded," says Davis.

Safety is always on Davis' mind, even after 31 years on the road. She was the first female Frito-Lay driver in the Midwest

"I'm proud of being the first girl to be able to do what the men do and keep up with them."

And if she keeps on trucking this way, she'll leave the rest of the crowd in her dust.

Another Davis safety tip: She says she's never in a hurry. If the weather's too rough or she's too tired, she pulls over until she feels safe. She's one of nearly 90 Frito-Lay drivers who have logged a million miles or more accident-free.

Cool story...........

I just can't get past wondering what color/style bra and panties that she had on. Nice accomplishment for sure. I'm just hoping for a high cut bikini black panty and no bra with full headlight action and a full Brazilian (with white shorts). Or, perhaps no undies at all?

Hmmmm...listen to me? I'm possibly offending a female driver again. I'm ashamed of myself. I should be banned. Can I have a 3 day ban Rev?

Jumbo 04-26-2009 12:45 PM

2,000,000 miles? That is a long way to go with the left turn signal on.

Are you one of those drivers that go to the truck stop asking where is the commercial every 30 minutes? ;) J/k

Jumbo 04-26-2009 01:05 PM

She is no George L. Ertel. 41 years and 4.9 million miles for the Batesville Casket Company without and accident.

Somehow, I really don't believe she has to "ASK" for commercial, if she ever gets the desire for that action.

Jumbo 04-26-2009 05:25 PM

There is a guy from Wisconsin who has been delivering Carver Yachts since 1959! 50 years service and almost 6 million miles.

Gary, I also love the smell of napalm in the morning. It smells like, like VICTORY. I love that movie. Remember, Charlie don't surf.

The guy I am refering to works for Carver Marine. They have a plant just north of Green Bay and that is where this guy was from. Carver is a offshoot of Genmar.

I have to heartily agree with that Kat. Those "boys" of the board really got out of line this time. Personally, I tend to lean towards faulting their leader, GMAN for this juvenile behavior.

Us "men" of the board will immediately intensify our efforts to squash this inappropriate behavior demonstrated by the likes of Jumbo, matcat, Windwalker and ronjon. I also am shocked and upset by their actions.

I'm on it!!!

Wildkat ..... congrats girlfriend .... it's totally awesome !!! Keep up the GREAT work. !!!!!

So... I'm trashing the thread, am I???
And, how would I be doing that? By not having much to say? I could post something that would get your attention. That would justify your accusation. Want to go for it???

I honestly had not thought about that...
It was simply a question.

wildkat 05-03-2009 12:39 PM

Well, WW since you had not posted BEFORE I made the comment, or if you DID it was not off the topic of the "congrats" that roses made, I don't think I was lumping you in with the rest of the "boys"

I know this cute blond up in Seattle, whom should be coming up on 2 million miles.

She hauls gas. Been doing that since 1984.

Well Stan. That's what we were trying to say all along. 4roses knows what I am talking about. Kat just happened to jump in the middle of something that she wasn't aware of.

Comedically backtracking to another post from 4roses.........we ("boys and men") were just making some off-the-wall comments. Nothing more. That said..........

If Kat was aware of the story that we were working from, I don't think that she would have been put off like she was. It happens to all of us.

But that's all OK when coming from WildKat. Time and time again on this board she shows that successful balance that she keeps between her feminine side, professional driver, wife, businesswoman.....and she has nice legs!:smokin: I have the utmost respect for Kat.

She can probably out drive any of you "boys.";)

Not me, of course.

Windwalker 05-04-2009 01:22 AM

I'm not ashamed to say that I have seen women driving that did better than I do. Without any doubt, there are women out here that know exactly what they are doing, and do it very well. And, quite often, have been doing so for quite some time also. My hat's off to all of them.

Now, for the "rabble-rousing"... Did you know there are at least 34 very good reasons to have sex?????:D    :lol2:

I realize that fuel companies are watering down the fuel to futher increase their profits and screw the consumer but that is a bit much.

I congratulate all the ladies here. It's not always easy to make your way in a man's world. I congratulate her on her 2 mil, and Kat on your 4 mil!! That's amazing that anyone anywhere can drive that many miles without someone running in to them!! There are a bunch of crazy drivers out there.
