Global Warming     I think they are just trying to scare us with this global warming crap. I remember hearing in the 70's they were crying about global cooling.    I wish they would make up their minds!

Roadhog 12-06-2007 03:26 AM

 ...yeah...we sure had some real Winters back then, especially in the 50's and 60's. Sometime back in the 1800's Niagara Falls actually froze solid!

Colt and our North West Canadian members still do see some serious cold!
Where I live we are getting the effects of an Alberta Clipper. It's 15 degrees Fahrenheit at my house now. With the wind chill, it's near zero or below.

yoopr 12-06-2007 03:34 AM

Wish we had some of the "Global Warming"

Double L 12-06-2007 03:41 AM

Honestly I think that the earth is going through it's normal climate changes. Now remember there was an ice age but we didn't cause it! They don't scare me, I heard on the news about Iran having nuclear weapons. I'm gonna shut up on that one I don't want to make some of you guys mad at me!

      It's not that it's the temperature, it's just that dang gone wind that makes her so cold.

Roadhog 12-06-2007 03:52 AM

I found the photo...the Falls froze in 1911.

Roadhog 12-06-2007 01:32 PM

 ...I know...when the temperature gets cold enough to
freeze your NADS OFF...it no longer matters if it's Celsius or Fahrenheit.

:?

-40 Celsius = -40 Fahrenheit

Jackrabbit379 12-06-2007 03:44 PM

I have a dumb question.

What exactly is Global Warming? I went to Wikipedia to read about it, but they use a lot of big words. :|

Is Global Warming where it's actually warmer than normal, or colder?

Um..... you wanna check that conversion formula, and get back to me??

COLT 12-07-2007 09:52 AM

http://www.wbuf.noaa.gov/tempfc.htm
click this ^ for a handy converter

Explanation
There are two main temperature scales. The Fahrenheit Scale (used in the US), and the Celsius Scale (part of the Metric System, used in most other Countries)

They both measure the same thing (temperature!), just using different numbers.

If you freeze water, it measures 0° in Celsius, but 32° in Fahrenheit
If you boil water, it measures 100° in Celsius, but 212° in Fahrenheit
The difference between freezing and boiling is 100° in Celsius, but 180° in Fahrenheit.
Freezing ... to ... Boiling

Coldest I've seen COLT, was last week in Prince George, -28. Heading back there this week but its supposed to be warmer.
Our Southern equipment isn't used to it and was causing us serious headaches. Nothin works on the trailers, I couldn't build air, drove around till I found Freightliner, the brakes were just about to dynamite and I would have been stuck as I pulled in. Then what? Friggin truck decides to spew out the piece of ice obviously clogging something and up went the guages.
Whitehorse is warm right now, warmer than the interior.

COLT 12-09-2007 05:38 PM
