We are going to Central Tech in Drumright, OK and trying to get into the Jan training. We are 99.9% sure we are going with Crete. We was looking at Schneider as well but they were not hiring in our area,Kansas.
We wanted a company who wouldallow us to bring the truck home, have good retirement and other benefit package as well as pay.

Ivory .. Central Tech is a VERY GOOD school .... And Crete is also a good choice. I understand Cretes training time is a bit longer than others, but the way I look at it .... it gives you more time with a trainer and hopeful able to drive in all kinds of weather, mountain driving, ice, snow and high winds and etc.. The instrutors at Central Tech are good ... and will work with you if you have any weak areas - you just have to speak up and let them know. ... Have you and your daughter taken time to drive to Drumright and have someone walk you through the school ? .... While your in school take advantage of the computer lab ... it stays open till around 9-10:00pm ... depending on when the custodial crew leaves. ... If you do spend the day there be sure and check out the different places you could be staying ... Antiques and More has several places they rent to students there.

Good luck ...

for4roses, we havent been there to check out the school but had a cousin & her husband go there a year ago and they speak very highly of the place. We'll be sure to take advantage of the computers, I'll need all the help I can get. The school is closed till Jan 3 so we will set up something then and go see the place.
We called to day to the recruiter with Crete and we are going with them. At my age I am not wanting to jump around from company to company, I am looking for a company I can get good benefits for retirement. Where I am at now only has a profit sharing and they have only put in to it twice in 10 years. When I leave I'll get a whopping $600 for 7 1/2 of working for them. Not much to retire on thats for sure. I'm really only 42 but husband is 50 and we need to think on these things. Was self employed before that for 15 years so all extra went back into the businesses to keep them growing.
We know there's good and bad points about every company no matter who they are, but liked their whole package. The only bad thing about being beginners is the pay but we have to start somewhere, right?
We also like the amount of time they train. It'll make us more comfortable behind the wheel when it's our turn to fly but the knowledge we will get will be great. We are hoping to learn to drive in allot of different kind of weather, traffic (scarry some times even for 4wheelers), mountains, road conditions. Every bit of proctice we can do the better.
