Default North vs: South, The Humbling of LadyNorth

Yep I said it, I have been humbled.

As some of you know I am trucking now in the interior of BC. I came down here thinking ahhhh, nice short, mild winters.
Right!
Not a day goes by I don't wish for the North. I've never spent so much time slipping and sliding around. The excess traffic sucks!
I came down 2 hills today with my tactor and 2 trailers each pointing in their own different direction. I nearly freakin died of heart failure. I was driving cautiously!
It used to be if the drives kicked out on me on a hill or I spun a bit it was a bit exciting, woot the road is a bit slick today. Now....? If I go straight the whole way up a hill I'm like... whoa.. that was weird?!
Not to make light of what I did up North and what Wildkat still does on a daily basis, but its a different set of challenges, some that I would choose over what I have now ANY day.
I still may end up back home one day, and when I do, I will GLADY hit the road up there and feel a hell of a lot safer doing so!

Just remember what your pulling....

Trucking around with a lightly loaded refer 1/2 the time & M/T the other half, on cold snow/pavement... That was easy, now your challenged.

Bitterly cold for 2 weeks, now -1 with those big wet snow flakes...

Still cold in Ft Nelson tho.

Sometimes when my trains are M/T on the slick ice, I just have to relax and drive rather than try and hold it back on the hills ( know what I mean ? )

Sometimes loaded too  Just remember, Only the Best, can handle trains in the winter. You'll be fine, carry spare underwear lol

Your welcome Buddy

I smell BBQ...

But, seriously Turk, It sucks, It's hard truckin, you know where and what I do, it's not easy, among men, it takes big balls to go and haul the "off road" loads that I do.

Your at a point I was at one time, I used to get so nervous before work because I knew the roads were "really" BAD (you know my job can't wait) and well, sometimes, I was soo upset I would "dry heave" before work, knowing I could kill someone or die myself...

I got thru it, now I say to myself, I AM A BETER TRUCKER than the guy who will be doing it if I quit....

As always, Ron

You nerd, I don't get nervous like that, I just don't like it. lol The first time I slid down the hill I felt a little ill but the second time it weren't near so bad.
It just makes me not enjoy my job like I used to. Course there are other variables to that too.. grr. Managers suck.

Yes WK, I know that 'oh please' I'm still stuck in a hotel room in Quesnel running to PG thanks to that exact same 'oh please, PLEASE, what can we do for you PLEASEEEE'
grr

LNS, give yourself time to adjust to the different conditions, you'll do just fine.... If you can survive the North you can survive this too..

Roadhog: yer a goofball...

Shoulda seen what I had to go thru yesterday...imagine 24 hours to do a 500 mile trip....

Bad accident, tanker & a bus tangled, rumour has it the tanker was at fault, but that could be just talk...I'll reserve judgement...

Hwy was shut down for nearly 8 hours, 25 hurt, no fatalities (thank god). But that road is literally "the highway of death". I HATE that road & avoid it whenever possible. Twice per year (my usual) is too many...

Then finally got back to the city & it's 0C, sloppy day...my truck is white & brown with a purple undercoat!!
No point in washing it till days off...just a waste of $100

Take care out there, likely off to Yellowknife again tonight, so gotta get some shut eye...Be safe out there!
