Weekend Schools?

Have any of you had any experience with them? It would seem to me that you would get alot more individual attention.

Yes I've done weekend schooling

First of all bamalu where are you located? Anyway I attended a weekend school for 6 months. Class time was from 8am to 6:30pm Saturdays and Sundays. The school gives you 480hrs total for completion.

The week day students had to accumilate the same amount of hours. They were in school M-TH (5hr. days) and it all adds up to 480 hrs.

As far as getting more individual time I think that has alot to do with your instructors and the organization of the school and how large your class size may be.

At my school the students mostly taught each other. The senior class would help the newbies and then they would help the incoming class and it was like a cycle.

I live near Sacramento, CA and Western Trucking School offers night and weekend courses. The night and weekend courses are 160 hours. The night course lasts 4 weeks while the weekend course lasts 8 weeks. I'll be attending the weekend course starting in September of this year (fingers crossed, knock on wood). I know this doesn't help anyone but Northern Californians, sorry!

When I checked several schools, their sites would say they do. But, when I called I was told - it depends on the demand.

I would suggest asking three very important questions to determine if the school you are looking at will provide the training you need: (1) What is the student to instructor ratio?, (2) What is the student to truck ratio?, and (3) Is there any "observation time" involved in the training.....you want the ratio to be as low as possible, and observation time is a total waste of time and money.........GOOD LUCK!
