Does anyone use 5 hour energy drinks?

Although there's no substitute for a good sleep, sometimes if you're going to be driving all night long, these drinks can give you quite a kick. Every Thursday morning, I have to go in at 3 in the morning to sweep downtown. It's bad enough having to be in at that time of the morning, but when you're traveling at 3- mph (I'm a street sweeper operator), sometimes I literally have to fight sleep to keep from nodding off. But when I drink one of those little orange bottles, after about 10 to 15 minutes I'm wide awake and ready to roll.

This is not a sales pitch, I'm just letting everyone know that these drinks work good for me and would recommend giving them a try if your ever sleepy. (I would NOT recommend taking one all the time because it's probably not that healthy and you can also get dependant on them).

OMG, hell no. I tried a half a bottle once, and spent 3 hours with my heart beating at a thousand beats a minute (or so it seemed). Never again will I touch that crap.

This stuff is bad for your heart thats for sure...It tastes like chemicals and it is...It is highly acidic wich leads to a whole host of issues...Most experts agree a cup of coffee a day is good for you but coffee is natural, this stuff is like doing meth...

I've tried them. The orange is nasty!
I tried one, one night. I couldn't tell the difference. I was still sleepy, and when I got home, I couldn't sleep. :hellno:

I drink them once in a while, maybe 2-3 per month. I know one thing, I'll never have another one of the 5 Hour Max again - OMFG. I felt like a little kid on Christmas morning after getting into all the Christmas candy. It was almost scary.

that is just it, some of us get the really scary side effect of your heart beating out of your chest. One of my friends has one every day, no problems, while I get heart palpitations just looking at them. I find them to be extremely scary and wonder if anyone has had lasting problems from drinking them.

WOW I wish it worked that good for me. I keep a few in the truck just in case, it does help but there's no way it will keep me awake when I lay down! AND SPEAKING OF SLEEP.....ZZZZZZZZZZ

The Max strength is the only one that does that to me. The regular strength is about the same for me - drink it and an hour later I can lay down and take a nap.

5 hour energy actually works ok for me. Oddly enough i DONT use it to stay awake in the truck i used to use them when id bust butt to get home friday and need energy to go out. Theyd work.. and id pay in the morning.

Ive found not being careful with your caffeine can actually hiurt you. I only drink decaf now except first thing in the morning and if im Wiped out and need a couple hours. Otherwise i develop a tolerance.

Quite honestly what ive found that works best is eatiing right. I have a habit of not eating and just drinking a ton of decaf/coffee with lots of cream in it and smoking. When i force myself to eat healthy my energy stays up.

I would not touch them. They are dangerous.
