SWEET media player
I just stumbled across this device from Western Digital called WD TV. Basically, it's a box that you connect to a TV, then plug in 1 or 2 USB drives. On those drives, it can play music, video files or display photos. Beats carrying around a stack of CD's.
Here's the link: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=572 My brother was wanting to hook up a media player to his tv at home, but didn't want to get into running network cables. This would definitely fit the bill for him, especially for only $129, plus whatever size USB drive he wants to use. |
That's pretty slick!
I just ordered one so I think it only fair you pay for half. |
lol
If I still used a tv in the truck, I would definitely get one of those things. It just plain out rocks (or at least looks like it does). |
I am a local schmuck but I do keep a laptop(mac) in the truck, the TV is in the house and I am tired of watching my legally obtained movies and tv series on my desktop at home.

i don't have a tv tuner in a pc at home, so i can't vouch for it. but orb looks like an interesting alternative.

The HP player isn't a "connected" piece of hardware though. So, it won't affect your limited "unlimited" bandwidth that the carriers have.

I got one of these for Christmas. It rocks. Plays every file I have thrown at it so far. Hooked it up to the stereo, TV and a 160G hard drive with music pictures and TV shows on it. One nice feature is that you can view photos and listen to music at the same time. Can't beat it for $100. Less hassel than a media PC though not as flexible.

I also like the fact that it plays FLAC music files. I have a lot of bootleg concerts that until now had to be burned to cd's to be played.
