Want a truly portable microwave

Give the WAVEBOX a look.

devildice 01-13-2007 12:43 AM

not sure, but wouldn't 660 watts be a bit much for a 12v dc plug in??

I was wondering the same thing...but it says it can be run on 12v...

Uturn2001 01-13-2007 02:17 AM

It says it needs a 12 volt outlet with a 12 amp rating or more and it will work.

There may be some type of technology that maximizes the input voltage internally. I have no idea how it works. Just seen this, and it is the only one I have ever seen that says it can plug into a 12 volt outlet.

devildice 01-13-2007 02:19 AM

if it works the way they say it does...then it would a great item for those who drive for companies that do not allow inverters

sbruner305 01-23-2007 01:48 AM

I have ordered one and it should be in in 1-2 weeks (backordered) I will let everyone know how it works

I ordered mine through cabelas and it has been backordered until late april early may due to the high demand. I let everyone know how it works when it arrives. If someone gets one anytime soon let us know how it works.

Trucker4Life 02-17-2007 10:51 PM

Anyone ever receive and test one of these...wondering how well they work.

sbruner305 02-19-2007 02:01 AM

I have called and spoke to the manufactors of the wavebox and learned a little more of how it works. when it is plugged into 110volts it has 600 watts but when it is plugged into the cigarette lighter it only has 175watts. Not a lot of power but is still better than the alternatives. especially when you cannot use the big inverters. Mine is still backordered but I will update when it comes in.

BigBird01 03-27-2007 05:36 AM

I ordered one of these about a month ago... It is back ordered for awhile I will post once I get it and let everyone know how it works out.

BigBird01 04-22-2007 04:34 AM

Anyone get one yet? Im still waiting on mine and wondering if anyone ordered one and got it yet.

Makes you wonder doesn't it, and if I was the owner of a retail outfit it would really tick me off.

Vendor comes to you and says...Hey I got this great product.

You agree and think it would be a good seller and ask how many can you supply and when.

Vendor....all you want when you want them.

You say great....give me 500 to start and then as ordered.

Months later you are still waiting..

sbruner305 04-29-2007 11:03 PM

BigBird01 06-27-2007 03:47 AM

Has anyone got this yet? I got a catalog from Cabelas but no microwave. I think they are messing with me. And now I really don't care if I get the thing or not its been to long....

terrylamar 07-05-2007 01:48 AM

I just received an email from [email protected] apologizing about the delay and announcing the release of the WaveBox in late July.

rustylugzz 07-18-2007 05:26 AM

I just sent a message to the wavebox people to see when they will be in stock. did you all ever get one?

mbadriver 01-19-2008 08:26 PM

I use the lunchbox cooker. It can make just about anything. I rarely use a microwave, even at home. Next is a hot sandwich maker.

the wave box people sent me an e mail...

We very much appreciate your interest in the WaveBoxTM – the worlds first and only portable microwave lunchbox!

The WaveBox retails for $USD199.

Unfortunately, the wait for the WaveBoxTM in the United States goes on due to final pending approvals from the FDA. The final approval date is unpredictable because the FDA works on a schedule that is theirs alone. We are hopeful that we will be able to ship in the next 45 days, but we really cannot predict the FDA timing – it could be longer. Rest assured, the WaveBoxTM is a safely built, well performing product, and the FDA approvals are close to completion.

To note, we are currently selling the WaveBox in European markets, and will be in touch with all of our European customers who have been waiting shortly. All other major global markets, including Canada, will be served in the next 2-3 months.

Once we receive FDA approval, we will email you to advise that its time to order your first-off-the-production-line WaveBoxTM. At that time, you may enter your credit card information and actually pay for a WaveBoxTM. You have no obligation to do so, but we will hold your premier delivery spot in line for 30 days after we are ready to take orders. We will also announce at this time any retail locations where you may find the WaveBox.

Thank you for sticking with us – and we look forward to sending your WaveBoxTM soon.

Regards,

Tim

The WaveBox Team
