Looking for a decent CB
I know that some have abandoned talking on the CB because there seems to be nothing but morons on it. However, when the road seems to get long and lonely I've found that I can still find an intelligent soul or two to help pass the time yacking. My company truck does have a CB...or should I say a SeeCB, you have to see 'em to use the dumb thing. So I'm thinking about purchasing one for my truck. Without throwing out any names or suggestions, what's the best radio for reception, transmission, etc. for the money?

Dollar cost wise I'd just go with Uniden
|
Any particular model that is best bang for the buck?

CB?
Cornerback? |
for a Uniden you can pay as low as around $50 or so up to a couple hundred.
The Elite is around $150 and it comes with Weather Alert channel(s). |
My Uniden has the weather bands on it, but because of the antenna splitter built into the truck, that frequency range doesn't go to the cb, it goes to the stereo with it's weather bands.
I've got a Uniden PC-68LTW - the only thing I've done to it is have it peaked/tuned (putting out 23watts) and put a new set of antenna's on it (just did that today, in fact). It's been a great radio so far. I think I paid about $60 for the radio, $20 for the peak/tune, and $4.00 for the antenna's using my T/A points. |
Well considering that I live outside of Green Bay, and since our so called team has been stinking up the NFL perhaps I could help them out by looking for a cornerback.

I would put 20 bucks into the company radio and have it tweaked and peaked and ask the tech to turn up the receive, if he says you can't do that then hes not a real tech. And think about getting a good antenna, the antenna is more important then the radio. I run a galaxy with a wilson 2000 and I can hear for a good 10 miles on a decent day, just don't cut the whip more then a quarter of a inch at a time when you are matching it.
