I have this air card. There is a GPS set up in this card. here's how it works. Once connected, you can use the GPS settings to find local services. It does NOT work like a stand alone GPS unit.

Can you use the GPS portion of it with other apps on the computer, such as MS Streets & Trips?
I'll be ordering a new USB aircard tomorrow and am just wondering about it. Of course, it's no big deal since I already have a GPS receiver. I'd just like to free up a USB port.

I installed my 597U today and guess what - it has a true GPS receiver in it. I noticed that when the thing was setting up that it added an NMEA port. So, I loaded up Streets & Trips, set it to use that port and boom - dead on.
You just have to enable it in the settings, plus start it in the GPS section of the Sprint window.

The way I understand it, with that model card, you can't use the internet while using gps and vice versa. Supposedly, only the U727 can do that, at least from Sprint rep.

Yes, I can use the GPS/Internet at the same time with the 595u. The only thing is that you have to run the Sprint Connection Manager software for it to be enabled.
