12v fridge.

pretty set on buying one from TruckFridge.com - Quality true 12 volt DC compressor refrigeration with freezer - Georgetown, KY Exit 129 next to Piolt Truck Center - many models to choose from.. my question is.. will the 12v get too hot and start melting wires? i know with my koolatron it cant be running for more then 4 hours before it starts getting hot. i also saw they make the same fridge thats 12/24v. any sugestions?

Don't worry about "hot", my is running for days, previous lasted 7 years, never a problem.

It only draws about 2 amps. It's fine. Either the wire on your old unit is frayed, or maybe the unit was drawing too many amps.

well i should have been more clear. my koolatron in the instructions it says not to have it plugged in more then 4 hours. its not hard wired in but still with the plug in to the cig. lighter. just want to make sure i'm making the right desision.

No, i was talking about truckfridge. That's what i have. BTW I got this one in KY, nice and very friendly folks there, it's right by the Pilot, but you even could pull in there with the trailer.

thats exactally what i want to hear! does it plug in via cig lighter plug? and as a stupid question.. its as cold as a normal fridge right?

solo379 07-07-2012 07:15 PM

Yes, it could be plugged in via cig. lighter. And it has a frizzer portion, just as a regular fridge, and it has a temperature regulator. It use to be Made in Italy, now it's China, but the guy at their shop says that now they have even fewer complains. Go figer...only time will tell, so far so good, and it's even quieter than earlier model.
