Where do you buy parts?

Any good places to buy parts? Let's say you needed an air filter or serpentine drive belt or a brake rotor, who would you call to see if they had it (or could get it)?

hehe I've had a sampling of the dealer's sense of humor. Funny people like that should be in show business.

I buy that stuff at NAPA..............Belts, filters, glad hands, air lines...........They also stock starters, altenators, drums, brake shoes here.

It depends on where I am when I need parts. If I am home then I will check with Truckpro, Fleetpride, Kenworth, Peterbilt and International. There is also an O'Ryan's that has truck parts. For some parts I have local sources that I can get parts rebuilt, such as alternators and starters. Those places are usually about half of the parts stores.

For used parts russ fishers back behind the pilot or beside the pilot in Terre Haute, IN. They seem to have a ton of parts. I have never gotten parts there but I knew some O/O that have.

For almost all things Volvo related I'll go with the local Volvo dealer. That and brake shoes for the truck and trailer. They're the only ones locally that seem to carry the Meritor PlatinumShield brake shoes. I bought shoes off them for the trailer a few months ago. The night parts guy knows my name, serial #, and account # off the top of his head.

For drums I go to wes-t-rans, a buddy of mine works there. They're the only ones that carry Meritor Steelite drums locally. He can also get me very good prices on generic stuff. He is also very helpful with hard to find parts.

For brake chambers I go to Fort Garry Industries. They're the only ones that carry Haldex LifeSeal brake chambers. Almost twice the price of a regular brake chamber, but I have yet had one fail. They come with an 8 year warranty. FGI also has a good relationship with my company so I get good prices there.

I prefer Cat batteries so I'll either buy those at Cat or the local Peterbilt dealership.

For suspension, bushings, pins, sleeves I go to North End Spring. Their prices are usually less than half at Volvo. They're a local outfit. I don't think you'll find them outside Winnipeg.

For alignments I go to Freightliner of all places. The guy is so good he can have up to a 3 week waiting list.

Needless to say I'm very picky as to what I put in the truck. Sometimes I'm going to 3-5 places just for a simple job, because I want it done right.

Before my law enforcement career I ran a NAPA store.....we stocked heavy truck filters, batteries, some starters and lots of brake parts. If we didnt have it, we could get it and there is a NAPA store in almost every town in America.

I ran that link (partsmart.com) and it links to "PartSmart.com has the largest selection of medical equipment parts, including the widest inventory in the USA of Lunar and Hologic components. We also offer rebuilt and new ultrasound transducers, printed circuit boards, buckies, detectors, printers and peripherals."
