Fuel Tank Question??
 

I am buying a Truck for the first time. My question is how is the fuel fed to the engine from the tanks. Is there a switch like in a plane that you switch between tanks manually, or does it just feed into one line?? I ask this because I will be converting it to run on biofuel.

Up until the mid 90s (I believe it was), there was a "cross-over" line from one tank to the other, and the engine drew fuel from one tank. After that, they began to draw fuel from both tanks at the same time, and have return lines to both tanks. It comes from each tank into either a "T" or a "proportioning control". The return line from the engine is also split to go into both tanks. But, I don't think that would really have any effect on the type of fuel you use, unless it has to do with gelling in winter. Then, it might require some type of heater in each line coming from the tanks.

Thank you. Gelling is not a problem since I use heaters. I had a 35 foot RV and it was converted. Nothing like passing the extortion stations (oh sorry fuel stations).
I see that a truck will be easier to convert from the information I have gotten.
