should have my truck back in a day or 2. any opinion on how to to treat truck in break in period? some say to drive real hard to seat rings. high rpm, low rpm, no idle? should rpm be kept to a min? I usually change oil every 10,000 miles. should the first 1 or 2 changes be sooner ? thanks for all opinions.

I'd say just drive it as you would normally do. Tho I've always trying to be more gentle in this period, whether new, or rebuild. And I've usually changing oil, 1-st time, at about a half of a regular interval. Also pay special attention, to a temperature regime.

Don't run it at any particular RPM for too long. Vary the RPM's, don't lug it or overspeed it.

Other than that, drive it the way you're planning to drive it for the rest of it's life.

Change the oil & filter(s) at about 1/2 the normal interval the first time, then normally after that.

I should also add: Don't idle it for extended periods. If idling is necessary, bump it up to about 1000 RPM's, otherwise shut it down.

I can tell you what my mechanic told me. The first two loads I did after my rebuild were heavy. Right at 75 to 80,000 lbs. Had to climb a couple of large hills in Hagerstown, MD four times that day.

He told me that's the best thing I could've done. Putting a load on it gets everything to seat real nice. If you try to baby it, it will always use oil.

Thats what my mechanic told me, if I get a 80,000 lb load, to WORK it..
