ag100,ag200,ag380,ag400
The local Kenworth dealer said the AG200 was the bad one, but can be upgraded to an AG400, but still doesn't ride "quite as nice".
What about the AG380 vs AG400? AG380 is trailing arms vs the 8 bag of the AG400 correct? Which rides better? |

Solo-Is the 380 the KW version of Pete's Flex-Air? I understand it gives you a lower ride height and quie a bit less weight.

I have AG 100, the old style, don't see much of it anymore.
As far as ride, they all ride the same, they're trucks after all, what rides bad to you might ride good to someone else, my KW is 280" WB, rides better than my F-350 I look at longevity, my AG 100 has 1 million miles on it, and with the exception of the shocks is all original from the factory, in other words, it NEVER cost me a dime, just like my 2 previous KW's The AG 200 is the "high maintenance" version, and very popular, and I think they may have gotten the bugs out of it after 10 years of trying different things. |
I have the AG400...I'd take the 380 unless you need the extra rating. There seems to be an engineering flaw related to the harmonics that causes brake component failures; specifically brake chambers and s-cam brackets. They came up with a mickey mouse mod that comes on all new trucks or can be installed on older ones. It has reduced the frequency but not eliminated it. At least in our case. I don't know about the ride comparison, as I've never driven a 380, but from what I hear, it's pretty much bulletproof.

Maniac the dealer told me you can "upgrade" the ag200 to ag400 but it's still not quite the same. Cost is around $2300.

A lot of money, all it will do is make the AG 200 more trouble free, you're paying for what KW should have done from the start. I would say stay away from the AG 200, unless you find one that has already been upgraded. If you're looking at new, than go with the AG 380, which I believe is the same as the Pete flex air, or is that the AG 400? I'm not sure, but the 4 bag flex air is a good system also. |
The AG 400 is the 8 bag, the AG 380 is the trailing arm system.
